Description of 1958 Ford F-100 F250 CUSTOM |
FEEL FREE TO MAKE AN OFFER. IT IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AND I CAN SELL TO YOU EARLY AT ANYTIME. THANKS. 1958 FORD F100 4X4This is my fathers ford pickup that I am listing for him. This is an F-100. but the body has been put on a 1979 F250 frame and running gear. It has power steering. brakes. and an automatic transmission. The truck runs and drives and would not take much to make it into a daily driver. It is rust free. Here are all the details. Clear 1958 title. My father may have the '79 title also if you want it. MECHANICALThe original body was transplanted to a 1979 ford f250 frame. The body fits nicely. and it was a good job. Everything looks symetrical. The truck has ps. pb. c6 automatic. and a 351m big block engine. It runs nice and doesn't smoke or anything abnormal. It has a high pinion dana 44 front axle. and dana 60 rear axle. The drivetrain was very sound. which is why he used that particular truck for the swap. The truck runs and drives but needs some tinkering before being a daily driver. Brake lights. odometer. and wipers aren't working. Might needs other minor work before being street legal. The tires are 16. 5 size. They are ok I think. but have sat for many years and may not be highway usable. Would probably be fine for around town. INTERIORThe truck has pretty nice blue bucket seats. The headliner is a new one from LMC I believe. It has the 1979 tilt steering column. and a floor automatic shifter. BODYThis 1958 has 0 miles on new paint. The rust that the truck had was cut out and repaired before paint. Filler was minimal. The bodywork and paint is not top notch. The truck was built to be used. not a show truck. It is about a 30 footer or so. There are no large dents or anything. but the body just wasn't prepped really well before paint. With some detail and finish work. it will be a fun driver. I would personally put some nicer rims on it. and some chrome bumpers and it would make a big difference. These trucks were also made with chrome grilles/headlight trim which look better and are not hard to find. They might be reproduced also. Lots of reproduction parts are made for these. Glass is in good shape. OVERALLThis is a neat old truck that you could use for everthing. and it will be much more driveable with the updated powertrain. I have many old rigs and the non-sychronized 4-speeds with non-power steering and brakes. gets old real quick. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask questions.
