Description of 1947 Ford Other Pickups |
This 1947 Ford pickup spent almost all its life in and around Tuscon AZ, most of it on a farm. It was rust free except for what appears to be a restoration floor patch under the pedals. An heir body-off restored it with many new parts including the gas tank. Cab was reupholstered. He apparently became ill and the truck was stored in a warehouse for about 20 years before it was purchased by a Tucson collector who rebuilt the brakes and drove it for a year or so before I bought it. The undercarriage and sheet metal has the appearance of a truck less than 10 years old. Many parts look new. You will not find a cleaner one. I rebuilt the transmission less than 3000 miles ago and replaced the engine with a newer 276 cubic inch (3 5/16 by 4 inch) flathead remanufactured by Jerry Livingston of Wichita KS. The engine has a mild cam, Offenhauser heads and dual carburetor intake manifold with two new Holley 94 carburetors, plus an electronic distributor, and a PowerGEN 12V alternator. Truck is equipped with twin electric windshield wipers, turn signals, and new Coker 6.50 x 16 tires and innertubes. I have used it to haul garden trash, etc. but have stored it half the year in a rented workshop area. I have never driven it out in the rain but have been caught out a couple of times. The paint is the traditional green on black fenders, redone during the restoration about 25 years ago. It shows some orange peel but looks good from 15 feet or so. I had the Tacoma Cream trim pieces painted by a local body shop. The top suffered from its storage in Tucson, so I had the body shop repaint the top as well as repair and paint a dent in the right rear fender where I backed into a wood pile. Clutch chatters if you are not careful, but it is great fun to drive. Ill health forces me too sell: I can no longer drive or even work on it. There is no warranty, all inspections are to be completed before the end of the auction. Buyer pays all shipping costs, but seller will help with loading. |
