Description of 1966 Ford Thunderbird Town Coupe

1966 Thunderbird Town Coupe in excellent condition.

This car won Second Place in its class at the 2017 Chico Concours d'Elegance. It is titled in my name, registered and insured, and can be driven anywhere. The exterior is in excellent condition, having been repainted in original Silver Mink base coat/clear coat within the last three years, with no evidence of rust anywhere.

The original 390 engine was rebuilt less than 3000 miles ago, and the rebuild included a new aluminum intake manifold, Holley carburetor with electric choke, and a chrome air cleaner. A new complete exhaust system was installed at that time, and the transmission was also rebuilt per the previous owner. An aluminum crossflow radiator replaced the original within the last year and includes a polished overflow tank.

The braking system is almost completely new; including rebuilt booster, new master cylinder, calipers, pads and hoses. The aftermarket AM/FM stereo radio features a faceplate that matches the Thunderbird dash, has five pushbuttons controlling 12AM and 18FM presets, three equalizer presets plus treble, bass, and fader control, and rear auxiliary input. All four electric windows function properly now that the driver's window switch has been replaced. The swingaway wheel functions as it should, and the vacuum-release parking brake also functions properly.

But for the fact that this car could use new front carpets and the clock does not work, the interior - including the overhead console - is in excellent condition. There is one crack in the steering wheel at the 12 o'clock position and no cracks in the dashboard. The interior top of the driver's side door is showing some wear, as is the driver's seat back. A previous owner installed a multi-piece trunk liner, but did a sloppy job.

Pseudo-mag-wheel hubcaps from a Seven-Liter Galaxie have been installed, but the original hubcaps, air cleaner, and non-functional AM radio are included in the sale.
