He said “The engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes are all excellent and all work like a 50,000 mile truck, the transmission shifts exactly as it should under different loads and the engine performed the same under different loads.” It steered tight and no alignment problems, the brakes stopped straight, and the truck rode very nice. This truck didn’t have any flaws in this first “driveablity test” when it was performed. The body on this truck is extremely nice, original paint (some fading on top), with absolutely no rust through ANYWHERE, even underneath (extremely clean for the age TOP AND BOTTOM). This truck has all original body parts (NEVER WRECKED). Carpet, door panels, gauges, dash panel, steering wheel and column are extremely nice, even the door locks and tool box locks work with the keys... THE REALITY NEWS: This truck always starts, yet sometimes idles rough, other times really smooth, mechanic said this could be from old fuel still in the tank, and may need plugs changed or cleaned. One of the lifters sometimes will tick when hot or when cold. Truck does have at start up some smoking, some gray/black (fuel), condensation (white), and some blue (oil), yet that varies from length of sitting. The muffler has a small leak in it, one of the rear brake cylinders has/had a leak it. Windshield has a crack in it, dash pad cover is cracked, seat has some wear and small hole and stain on the drivers side, ignition key is a pain to remove and insert, and in typical Ford Ranger tradition, the tailgate latch is messed up and does not open the tailgate. Oh, the air needs charged (compressor/clutch spins free and pumps - so it is good), and the cruise does not work. The tires: the tread is super, the sidewalls are dry rotted from sitting, one of the original matched set of 4 tires started leaking at the sidewall after I received it (not repairable), so on the drivers front is the almost like new original spare tire (the bad tire with factory styled wheel is in the spare tire holder underneath the bed – and yes, that spare tire holder still works, and all the original tire changing equipment is still factory mounted behind the seat!) I would not drive this truck very far with the dry rotted condition of the tires. In closing, I really attempted to tell you what I found out about this truck, if any minor GREAT things or minor BAD things were missed, it was not intentional! *THIS TRUCK IS LOCATED IN MOUNTAIN HOME, ARKANSAS and WILL BE SOLD” “AS-IS NO WARRANTY IMPLIED” in TRUE AUCTION FASHION!
