How can you not stop what you're doing to marvel at one of the most iconic cars ever to roll off an American assembly line? You'd be hard pressed to come up with a vehicle that more strongly exemplifies classic Detroit styling than this 1957 Ford Thunderbird. It's wearing a great looking exterior color and still features numbers matching power under its hood to go along with an interior that will transport you back to a simpler time the second... you climb inside. Torch red was a popular offering on the Ford color chart the year this T-Bird rolled out and it's in fine form here, with the eye-catching shade sitting underneath a very strong clearcoat to produce a nice shine, and the collection of chrome it carries is all in good form. The view from the front, with the fresh-looking front grille looming above the contoured, unblemished bumper, is particularly impressive. Body alignment is another strong suit on this '57 - its panels blend together seamlessly and feature nice even gaps to allow the doors and hood to open and close smoothly. Those extra touches that give a classic strong curb appeal are in place here - the signature curved windshield looks very clear for a car of this era and is surrounded by clean chrome trim, the badging and emblems show particularly well and the casings surrounding the headlights and taillights are at their best. Climb inside the cockpit of this classic and you'll find your mood noticeably elevated. The bench seat features a fetching two tone pattern to match the door panels and has a very fresh look, with no noticeable scuffs on its vinyl surface and plenty of padding for comfort as it looms over an expanse of clean black carpeting. The dash area retains its stock configuration down to the textured aluminum trim panel it left the assembly line with, and the collection of factory gauges residing in its instrument panel are both functional and easily readable behind their clear lenses. Every control knob seems to be present and accounted for including the factory clock and the AM radio still holding court in the center of the dash. The trunk area in back is surprisingly spacious and you can see its surfaces have been well-prepped before being painted to match the exterior. The engine compartment underneath the hood has been well detailed, with glossy red inner fenders and firewall that give it a finished look. The 312 cubic inch V8 sitting at its center - which carries a 2-barrel carb underneath a very sharp looking air cleaner - is the very same powerplant this T-Bird started out with more than 60 years ago, and it still acquits itself well. There's a nice collection of stock Ford parts inside that add to the car's authentic appearance, including an era-appropriate regulator, branded windshield wiper fluid bag and a pair of awesome looking Thunderbird valve covers. This outstanding specimen rides on a set of 14" stock wheels with branded Ford hubcaps that feature Coker Classic whitewalls for just the right vintage look. The undercarriage below looks straight and sturdy and from that vantage point you can see the extra bracing Ford built in to maintain this icon's structural rigidity. The chance to own one of America's best loved rolling classics doesn't come along all that often, but that's what this 1957 Ford Thunderbird represents. Call today!
