Description of 1965 Ford Mustang --

This 1965 Ford Mustang actually emerged from the assembly in mid-'64 to join a pivotal group of classmates that would go on to change the car industry landscape while giving rise to an entirely new breed of automobile - the Pony Car. It greets the present in very clean condition, carrying its original engine under the hood and wearing its original colors both inside and out, and will pull into its next owner's garage with a collection of build receipts... and restoration photos on hand to chronicle the process that's taken it to its current impressive state. The Sunlight yellow shade is the same one this pony wore as it pulled into its Salt Lake City destination to await its initial sale and you can make a pretty solid case that it's the color most closely associated with this early first generation of Mustangs. It's in very solid shape, with no glaring issues in sight and has an even pigmentation from front to back. Its assembly of exterior fittings all look sharp - the corralled running horse mounted in the front grille carries no obvious pitting, both the front and back bumpers are straight and level, and the badging on all sides remains securely in place. Clear glass surrounds the cabin, with the front and rear windshields sporting fresh looking rubber seals and trim that really presents well. More than 40 years of service would have presented plenty of opportunities to knock its body alignment off kilter but that, too, remains strong, with all panels blending well and sitting flush. The black vinyl interior features all the vintage charm you could hope for and is also in very clean condition. It's been refurbished to its original condition and while the dual textured seat covers in front and back mirror those this Mustang began with, you don't see them nearly as often as you do their completely vinyl counterparts, so they're a welcome change. The level of functionality on hand here is impressive - all the gauges in the instrument cluster work as they should, as do all the control knobs and switches. The manual windows roll up and down smoothly and even the door locks, often an Achilles heel on classic cars of this age, are in good working order. A JVC AM/FM/cassette player stands by in the center of the dash, while the pad running the width of the cabin shows no cracks and still looks supple. Directly above, the headliner looks very fresh and fits nice and snug. An underdash air conditioning system was added to the mix and it's running in good form to keep you and your occupants comfortable. The trunk area in back looks good, as well. While the plaid vinyl lining its floor could stand to be replaced, the exposed metal is well-treated and lines up nicely. Pop the hood and you'll see an engine compartment that looks very much as it did when this car began life in the mid-'60s. The 260 cubic inch V8 sits at the center with its block, air cleaner and valve covers painted in proper Ford blue. It's running very smoothly - this classic is very much ready for the road as soon as you get it home - and combines with a 3-speed automatic C4 transmission whose reputation for dependability has been well-earned over the decades. The view from below is reassuring - you'll find some discoloration that would be expected with age, but everything is looking solid. Smooth power steering makes this Mustang an easy driver as it turns heads on its 14" stock wheels with branded Mustang hubcaps that are wrapped with steel belted radials. With its timeless looks totally intact and combining with a rock-solid running condition, this 1965 Ford Mustang is a definite "must see". Call today!
