Description of 1955 Ford Thunderbird |
Submitted for your consideration is this Senior realtor-owned '55 Ford Thunderbird Convertible with both tops located in dry Lewisburg, TN.Owner (depicted) bought this restored vehicle several years ago out of an estate and has only done routine maintenance to it in his ownership. This vehicle and accessory hardtop were repainted its original Torch Red in 2-stage base/clear paint.Having looked at several restored examples personally, I'd say the paint is well done with very few issues ofdirt/overspray evident for the most discerning buyer. The front hood latch "stuck" and the owner'smechanic accidentally chipped the paint at leading edge. Regrettably, this 79yr old owner is not willing to have thatrepair made at his age. It is an easy repair limited to only the hood (no surrounding damage to header, or fenders etc.). OPTIONS: Power Steering, Brakes, Windows and Seats. MECHANICAL: 292 V8 starts right up and idles fine but is a bit raggedy probably from sitting in storage. Owner admits that he bought the car, but was reluctant to drive it in restored condition so it sat under cover in his private storage area (He owns the Self-Storage business in his area).Hood latch sticks and for this reason the hood is "open" in these photos since his mechanic damaged the paint in its last visit. It will need attention to lubricate (replace?) one latch.Owner is unable to vouch one way or the other if mileage is original or rolled over beyond mechanical limits. Interior does not have any heel-pad wear or bolster wear on seats. Tires appear to be new and are in great shape. Kelsey Hayes-type wire wheels are in great shape and show no signs of curb scrape etc.I should note there is a set of sunburst wheelcovers included in the trunk.Car Cover is included.A fullsize spare with like-new tire is intact.New Fuel TankEXTERIOR: Torch red paint is correct for this vintage and done very nicely. As a former appraiser, I was able to discern evidence of overspray mostly in the jambs area (on weatherstrip) and mild dirtin the paint. Otherwise panel alignment is good. Door fitment for both doors is fine. All Chrome Brightwork is intact and looks great. I suspect bumpers are new or rechromed. Windshield has a "wiper mark" on the left side. It's subtle and may polish out, but wanted to disclose this in the spirit of transparency (no pun intended). No glaring stone chips etc. Underside could use some detailing mostly for cob-webs etc.Hardtop looks great. Headliner in hardtop is either new or exceptionally well-cared for. Soft Top is white in color and also looks new. Owner told me except for what previous owner told him, the soft top has not been up in his ownership for top-down in enjoyment on good weather days in dry Middle TN. Car has an excellent presentation. No evidence of rust or collision anywhere on this vehicle. INTERIOR: Interior is 2-tone red/white and in very good condition. Carpet looks new. Floor mats are correct for this vintage. Door Cards look good, altho' I note the power window switch is pulled away slightly. Looks to be an easy fix. Power Windows and Seats work flawlessly! Steering wheel is beautiful and no cracks. Headliner is exceptional on hardtop (new?). Owner looking to downsize and this is the only reason for the sale.Vehicle is not regularly driven and should be passed on to someone who can enjoy it.Buyer will be asked to sign a Buyer's Agreement with the customary "As-is/where-is" language etc.Additional photos available upon request.Test-drive is available with advance notice. This is a truly excellent car in so many ways offering the buyer years of problem-free driving.Except for the hood paint, sticking hood latch and detailing, this is a very nicely restored example needing very little for problem-free driving enjoyment. Please direct questions to: Allard62@aol.com or 615.979.3058 This is listed elsewhere starting today and could be sold at any time. We believe the price has been set competitivelyfor condition/options/accessories etc. for the discriminating buyer. You can't go wrong with this gorgeous car. |
