Description of 1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet |
Every car has a story, this one is just a little more interesting. This was my grandfathers 1931 Model A Cabriolet. He had owned this particular car since he was 12 years old. In that time he lived in the car until his late teens as he made his way from Wisconsin to the end of the railroad which is two blocks from where he ended up buying his home, where the car is garaged to this day. He restored it over the years and regularly drove it in local parades and monthly club car meets until he passed away back in 2000. Since then its only ever been out of the garage about five times, for these photos, during the garage clean out and to my grandmothers and mothers funeral's in 2013. Ive been around this car my own 50 years and in that time I know it has always been garaged. My mother, uncle, brother and myself were brought home from the hospital as newborns in this car. My grandpa drove my grandma home from their wedding in it as he did the same for my mothers wedding and my brothers. Being the last one left alive its time to send this car off to a good home where someone can both utilize and enjoy it. It has been properly restored with period correct original vintage Bronson Yellow with Seal Brown belting, the fenders and slash aprons are painted black. Little if any body work had been done that I was aware of, its all original real steel. I did help disassemble this car in the late 70's but do forget if it was repainted in the late 70's or early 80's. The rumble seat, if memory serves, was redone for my brothers wedding back in 1996. Its not been sat in since. I can never recall the top being down. My grandfather was a stickler when it came to keeping this car original but do believe the electrical was modified to drive in parades with the addition of an alternator. Doors, windows, trunk all operate proper. I have not detailed, washed or done anything to alter the cars physical appearance as seen in the photos. Its exactly as my grandfather left it. It could use a wash but as you can see in the photos, the paint was very well done. You clearly see the sky and clouds reflections in the paint. If bidding hits the $20k mark I will toss in a spare engine and transmission along with a few sets of tires and wheels and a cache of parts worth thousands by itself. The entire collection of parts collected over many, many years. Ive started the bidding modest as I would like this car to go to a new home. The title is in hand, free and clear in my name with a current and valid CA certificate of non operation, meaning its not being driven on public roads. There are no back fees, liens or anything else. As stated its not been on the road since 2013, it will need to be towed. a $500 deposit is to be made within 24 hours of auctions end. Full payment is to be made within seven days in cash or certified bank check. Local pick up is preferred obviously. As for shipping I have no affiliates, I will work with the buyer to load the vehicle as carefully as possible. From there on out the shipper is responsible for the vehicle. This is a near 100 year old vehicle. Vehicle is sold as is where is with no warranty or refunds. Please do ask any questions. |
