Description of 1936 Ford Other Touring Sedan |
1936 Ford Fordor Deluxe Trunk-Back Touring SedanThis 1936 Ford Fordor Touring Sedan (VIN 183194399) was purchased new by Marion Driskill in 1936 from Hull Dobbs Ford in Knoxville. Tennessee. Mr. Driskill was a conductor for the Southern Railroad and did not travel a lot. so the car did not accumulate many miles. In the 1950's Mr. Driskill's great nephew. David Black. bought the car and took it to Newport. TN. The car was driven sparingly and stored until 1961 when David Black's son. David Jr. . got out of the Navy and resurrected the car for transportation to college. It was in original condition and had only 31. 00 miles on it. In 1972 David Jr and his brother Gilbert decided to have the car restored for their father. The shop that did the restoration was in Knoxville. TN and specialized in Bentleys. Initially the shop didn't want to restore a "Ford". nbsp; the brothers persevered and two years later the restoration was complete at a cost of $35. 00. The car was originally Washington Blue. but was restored to Cordova Tan. The mileage at that time was just under 49. 00 original miles. Another important feature is the fact that the car has the late '36 LB engine which has inserted bearings. After restoration Gilbert stored the car for the next 16 years until it was given to David Jr who took the car to Huntsville. Alabama. The car was sold in 2007 to Todd Batiste of Arlington. TX and had only 49. 05 miles on it at that time. The car is now residing in Stephenville. Texas and has been driven and showed at local car events in the DFW area where it is a show winner. The car celebrated it's 75th anniversary in 2011. The current mileage is 50. 45 as of February 10. 2015. That would be an average of 643 miles a year since new. WOW. This is not a barn find fixed up. this is an original mileage family owned car. nbsp; very rare in this day and age. There are few of these cars for sale as most are in collections. The few that are for sale world wide range from 47k to 67k and range from barn find to show condition. This car is reasonably priced to sell as we are of a age that the interest in showing cars is gone. This will make someone a great show ready car. IT starts and runs great.
