Description of 1978 Ford F-250 |
First off, I would like to thank those who take time to comment on my trucks and those who purchase the trucks I put up for sale. I am liquidating a nearly 20 year collection to pursue other goals. I know this is not a 1978 Crew Cab. I listed it as a 1978 because who would actually search for a 1959 Crew Cab. There were (as far as I know) 127 of these made for the Air force. They were used for police vehicles and occasionally to pull planes back on the runway if they veered off and got stuck. One of the photos of front passenger door shows military numbers still on it. *The back rear door is rust free also, the picture I took of right side doors were too dark so I deleted it. The picture of the speedometer shows what I believe to be actual mileage. This truck has 3 speed manual transmission on the column and it is a 4-wheel drive. the Vin is an F25 which means 2 wheel drive, I would believe that the 4 wheel drive conversion was done by Marmon-Harrington Conversions, which had been around since the 30's. Which would soon be relegated as Ford started building factory 4x4's in 1959, but still used Marmon-Harrington in 1960 - to history. It has a Holley 1 bbl carburetor which we rebuilt today because it started leaking gas at the fuel bowl. This truck is all original except wheels as far as I can tell. Under the ripped up seat covers the original material is still on the seats, torn but there. AFTER GETTING THIS TRUCK OUT OF STORAGE TODAY, IT WAS REALLY HARD TO PUT IT ON EBAY AFTER DRIVING IT AGAIN! Except for rebuilding the carburetor I have not had to do anything to this truck. I did pull some 70's era wheels out of storage and had them powder coated and installed new tires on wheels, (less than 10 miles on them). There is rust in the front lip of hood. I have another hood that can go with the truck. Bottom line: starts great, runs great, drives great, and is an awesome truck. Note: If you send a message and do not get a reply it is because I will probably not be around a computer this weekend. Sorry. *This truck is also for sale locally if there is no bid I reserve the right to end the auction early. Also, I have already declined offers of 25 to 30k. 35k is the starting price. |
