Description of 1977 Ford F-350 Custom |
1977 Ford F-350 Super Camper Special Our Dad was a 28 year US Army, Green Beret, veteran and recently passed away. Sadly, it's time to move on and pass some of his treasures to a new home. The Super Camper Special package was custom ordered through the dealer and available from 1973-1979. Back in the 60's and 70's, camping was very popular. This package was in response to the growing demand to accommodate slide in campers. It included heavy duty 1 ton suspension, heavy duty cooling system, hookups for dual batteries (only has one battery), sliding rear window, costume mirrors that extend, 460cu engine, automatic transmission, cruise control, and AC. This is a really cool truck and a lot of fun to drive! Has lots of power, moves when you tell it to, and easy to steer! Dad bought it in 2011 from a local horse ranch that used it to haul bales of hay and tow horse trailers. It did have a 5th wheel hitch but was removed before dad bought it. The mounting holes and electrical hook up are still there. An after market towing brake lever was installed and still works. The engine was rebuilt about 5 years ago (still looking for the receipts) and has a lot of new parts; radiator, water pump, belts, and hoses.Battery was replaced about three years ago, Optima yellow top. It sat for the last three years or so when Dad couldn't drive it anymore. So we recently gave it a tune up with new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Changed the oil and flushed the cooling system.New fuel pump and fuel line hoses, rebuilt the carburetor, dropped both fuel tanks and flushed them, replaced fuel filler and evaporation hoses, replaced brake master cylinder, front pads, and parking brake cable. We discovered the fuel tank selector valve is not working and bypassed it. Also power washed the engine and chassis. The AC and the cruise control were not working when Dad bought it and he never had either repaired, no idea what repairs are needed. They are both disconnected. The power steering pump and box are leaking badly and will need to be rebuilt, very common for these trucks. No idea if the truck will pass CA smog. But we are willing to repair ifnecessary. Several of the vacuum lines are disconnected, so it's likely it will not pass. The body is in fair condition for it's age and was repainted at some point. There are some small dings on both doors and on top of the hood. There is major damage on top of the bed rails near the tailgate and on the tailgate. We found a replacement tailgate at a local salvage yard that needs minimal repair and paint to match. At the buyers request, we are happy to swap them at the time of sale, or ship it with the vehicle. The windshield is cracked and will need replacement. There is a small dent on the passenger door, four small dents on the roof above the passenger side, and a small dent above the driver side rear wheel well.He installed polished aluminum rims and 33" BFG's that look awesome! There is a lot of tread on the tires, however, they are 12 years old with a lot of side wall cracks. I would not go very far or fast on them. All the chrome trim is there and in good condition. Rear bumper is slightly twisted on the driver side, front bumper has a bend on the bottom center, front grill is in very good condition and complete! No cracks, bends, or broken pieces, justfaded. All lights and turn signals work. The interior is in good condition. The water heater core was leaking real bad, So we replaced it over three years ago. At the same time, we removed the seat, carpeting, and dash and cleaned out the cabin with hot soapy water. All the ducts were removed and cleaned. Also cleaned and added dielectric grease to as many electricalconnectionsas we could get to. We removed as much of the rust off the passenger floor as we could. Not a professional job, should have been sandblasted, but good enough to satisfy dad and get it back on the road. Radio was not working and didn't bother reinstalling it. We later added new carpet, weatherstripping for the doors, and a seat cover. The seat is badly worn and needsnew upholstery and padding. The headliner is original and in good condition, no sagging or tears. The dash pad is also original and in good condition, no cracks, justfadingfrom the sun. Thesun visorsare original and in good working condition, no tears or cracks. The door panels are in decent shape, there are some cracks and broken pieces, but still in usable condition. Rear sliding glass opens, closes, and latches as it should. The cluster crumbled apart and was replaced with a good used one. We swapped out the speedometer so it shows the original miles. Speedometer does not work, probably because the cruise control is disconnected. Dash and cabin lights work as they should. The mechanic recommends a transmission service. Transmission does shift, however it's very rough. It has been sitting, so it may loosen up and shift smoother with use. Also, the front suspension bushing are worn and need replacement prior to an alignment. The tires do not show any uneven wear, it's just a recommendation. And he recommends a service for the rear differential. No idea when the gear oil was changed plus, since it sat for a couple of years, the outer wheel seals are probably dry rotted and will start to leak. Overall, the truck is in good working condition. A lot of the heavy lifting was done. With just a few more repairs, this truck will make great daily driver, or will make a great restoration project! Clean title in the power of attorneys name and in her possession. Dad did not put it on a planned non-operation, so there is $1,200 in back fees for California buyers. There are California vehicle codes for classic vehicles that will wave fees. We've already researched the VC numbers and happy to share with CA buyers. This truck is sold as-is. Vehicle inspections are welcome and encouraged by appointment only. We've seen these trucks in comparable conditionsell for $12,000-$15,000, so we believe $9,800 is a fair price. However, make an offer if you like. We are motivated to sell. Feel free to ask questions. We'll do our best to answer. Local pickup is fine. We are also willing to arrange shipping to lower 48 States at the buyers expense. Unless you are in the military, shipping to Hawaii and Alaska will be crazy expensive! Sorry, no international shipping. $500 deposit is due within 24 hours, balance due within 10 business days or we cancel the sale and relist it. We will accept a cashier's check or bank check written to the Power of Attorney and by certified mail only. Please keep us in the loop, we will not release or ship this truck until paid in full!! The truck is located in Apple Valley CA. The kids are scattered throughout the country, so we left it with a family friend. He has a power of attorneyrelease and has agreed to list it, sell it, and answer your questions on the families behave.
