This car makes me want to put on my white T-shirt and blue jeans and go get a crew cut! Yeah I know the Beatles haircuts were big in '64, but that's not my style. This Galaxie 500 on the other hand is my style. The Galaxie name was introduced because America was infatuated with space travel, rockets and jets. Even the tail lights look like jet exhaust. The 1964 models even incorporated some additional body changes Ford needed to... improve aerodynamics for NASCAR. This is such a fantastically well preserved car you just have to love it. The body is exceptionally good, the panel lines are all even, the paint is very nice, the side skirts look awesome and the brightwork still shines. Interior is equally as impressive. It looks to all be original with only the slightest of wear and a slight discoloration on the tops of the door panels. It is equipped with period-correct under the dash air conditioning. Not sure if this was dealer installed or factory installed. Under the hood lives her original 390 big block V8. The engine compartment is very neat, clean and correct. While this is a roadworthy vehicle in our opinion it is time to refresh the engine. The odometer shows 18,500 miles but we do expect it has rolled around at least once. The transmission is a three on the tree manual with overdrive. On the road she drives, steers, shifts and handles extremely well for an unrestored 55 year old car. It is obvious this car has been mechanically well-maintained throughout its life. If you appreciate a good, original car you will not be disappointed with this Galaxie.
