We have a lot of really neat and interesting cars over the years. But very few have had the character of an "Iron Mountain Ford Woody". It is the epitome of "Americana" in the middle of the last century. When you think 1950's Southern Cali... you think of girls in swimsuits, guys with surf boards, and the iconic "Woody"! This is just a cool car that commands a smile and thumbs up where ever it is driven. Our particular car is a very original and unmolested example of what can only be described as, a piece of rolling art. This car was built by true craftsmen and showcases the precision of master woodworkers of years ago. It is truly beautiful. It is believed that the majority of the wood on the car is original and is in very good condition. Currently the odometer shows just over 98,000 kms. According to a previous owner, "The woodwork has some unique details not commonly found on Iron Mountain Fords. There is a lip over the running board on the bottom of the front doors. Mechanically, the car has had some period fitted upgrades that were added when the car was in Southern California way back the 1950's. The engine is believed to be the original 59A Ford Flathead block. The cylinder heads were replaced with a pair of Edelbrock Finned Aluminum heads. The carburetor set up was switch out for twin Stromberg's set up, and Isky Cam is believed to have been fitted at that time. We have understanding from someone who knew the car in the late '50's that all of this was in place then. It has been converted to a 12 volt system. Only the original radio and the horn have not been converted. There is a modern radio fitted in the glove compartment with two removable speakers behind the third row seats. The engine fires right up and have great power. The car is a 3 speed on the tree. Braking comes by way of the original four wheel drum set up, and they work surprisingly well. The body and paint on the car is very presentable. A paint meter around the car shows uniform readings. While the paint is not fresh, it presents with a good luster, displaying only very minor imperfections from age and use. The undercarriage is incredibly clean with no evidence of any previous repair work or issues. We see no evidence that this car has had any prior corrosion issues, either presently or previously. This is what you would expect from a Southern California car. The vinyl roof is correct pattern and intact. The interior is clean, crisp, and all correct. The dash is finished in a faux oak pattern with all the original gauges. The very early molded plastic trim on the dash is in great condition and original to the car. It was common, for these trim pieces to perish over the years from being sun baked. The main visual draw of the interior is the stunning wood work throughout. The roof of the car is a true work of art. Reminiscent of vintage wooden boats of the era, it draws the same comment from everybody who sees it. "Wow, that's incredible!" We proudly offer this motorcar to its next owner to continue the story by writing their own chapter in the biography of this "Woody's" life. This car is offered AS/IS, with no written or implied warranties or guarantees.
