Description of 1974 Ford Torino Brougham Standard

1974 Ford Gran Torino Brougham. It has been in the family since it was 6 months old. Must sell - moving.

Here we go.

The good news: Body solid and undamaged, except for some rust (see below). Chrome bumpers. Motor and transmission strong, in excellent shape. A/C and heater work, but inside fan is not as strong as it should be (can't tell if there's a leak somewhere or if the fan is getting weak). A/C system has been converted to R-134a. Power windows work (installed aftermarket), all glass undamaged. Delay wipers work. Mallory distributor/ignition installed (but original points distributor is in the trunk). Recent metal (not plastic) radiator, water pump, master cylinder. Frame type trailer hitch with 2" ball (1 7/8" ball in trunk). Paint and vinyl roof in good shape. Original headliner is up and in good shape. Comes with two sets of keys, one of which is the original factory set of keys.

The not so good news: Rust below lower ledge towards ground is bubbling through on both sides, and two places in trunk near wheel wheel, but rust seems to be confined to those areas. TLC needed when shifting from reverse to park, to ensure park is engage, and car is still not in reverse (linkage adjustment?). Bottoms of driver and passenger seats cracking, backs of driver and passenger seats replaced with a not-so-matching vinyl, and now starting to crack (rest of door panels and back seat okay). AM/FM stereo (out of a 1975) sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, and speakers are ready to be replaced. Back window has leak somewhere, as indicated by stains on backboard behind back seat. Original carpet is a few millimeters short of fitting under sill places and lower side trim (has always been so, and has always been so with every other GT with shag carpet I've seen from this time). Left and right opera glasses are milky (very typical of this model).

Terms of sale: As-is, where-is. The seller makes no warranty of the vehicle, whether it be written, spoken, or implied. Buyer will be responsible for removal of the vehicle. Bidding on this vehicle constitutes understanding and compliance with these terms of sale.

Special note for California buyers. Being this car is "1975 or earlier", this auto is smog-exempt. No biennial smog tests required.

Absolute bonanza of spare parts; I will gladly send pictures of any/all of them, as well as more pictures of the vehicle through E-Bay channels. Spare parts include: original distributor, carburetor spacer, hood release mechanism, grille (used but undamaged), headlight bezels (also used but undamaged), driver and passenger external door handle/connector rods, heater core, clock (non-functioning), right and left rear and front side windows, rear window, 3 fender skirts (one missing latch, another damaged from accident but possibly repairable), air conditioning muffler (connects outflow valve from evaporator to the compressor, various body trim fasteners, power steering pump (haven't ever seen it work in over 20 years, but the brackets are good), two instrument clusters (appear intact, but functionality unknown), left/right taillight assemblies (used but undamaged), front license plate bracket, left/right upper radiator fasteners, delay wiper switch (appears intact, but functionality unknown), trunk wiring harness, fuel quantity sending unit (worked as of 2003, when I replaced the fuel tank, but haven't seen it work since then), partial Brougham reflector assembly, GRAN TORINO side emblems (2 each), partial hood ornament (missing lower section), fan switch, numerous lights and fuses, 6 Brougham hubcaps, (one of them will not be usable until a back fastener is welded back to the rest of the hubcap), two left bank exhaust manifolds (one output faces aft, one more forwards, I don't know which mine uses, but they are for a 351C up to 1974), two right bank exhaust manifolds (both are for a 351C up to 1974).
