Description of 1956 Ford Thunderbird |
Carolina Muscle Cars Inc. - eBay Template
This 1956 Ford Thunderbird has undergone a no-expense-spared frame-off rotisserie restoration performed by Ed Robbins of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and it has since received multiple prestigious show awards. The restoration was well documented, and the 'Bird comes with a photo album and many other brochures. In 1955, Ford felt it necessary to compete with Chevrolet in the new two-seater, sports-car category created by Chevrolet with the Corvette. The Thunderbird was designed to win style and comfort points as American buyers grew fond of the European-style two-seat coupes that had grown in popularity. The Thunderbird was an instant success and would eventually outsell the Corvette 23-to-1 in the initial year of production. As the Corvette design focused mostly on performance, the designers of the Thunderbird were always more concerned with styling and comfort. While all Thunderbirds were convertibles, a removable hardtop option was not only available, but turned out to be very popular. This 1956 Ford Thunderbird has been finished in its factory-original color of Fiesta Red with a white porthole hardtop. The interior of the car is beautiful and features upholstery done in a matching color scheme that includes red carpet. Interior highlights feature a bench seat, engine-turned dashboard and lots of chrome, while creature comforts include a Town and Country AM/FM radio, air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. The engine compartment is very clean and houses the optional 312 CI Ford V-8. Power is sent from the V-8 to the rear wide whitewall tires through a Cruise-O-Matic transmission controlled by a floor-mounted shifter. This stunning example of an original 1956 Ford Thunderbird has won multiple awards, including the CTCI Senior Gold Award, AACA Grand Nationals First Place Award and the AACA Senior Nationals. The Thunderbird comes accompanied by the dealer brochure, owner's manual and aforementioned restoration documentation. Financing available at very low rates! Good trades are always welcomed.
