Description of 1970 Ford Torino GT |
1970 Torino GT 429 4 speed - YouTube Video will open in a new window The basecoat/clearcoat paint is a few years old and shines nicely. To the casual observer it looks very nice, however, an enthusiast will find various flaws. It is a driver quality paint job and looks great from 20 feet but upon closerinspection you can find various flaws in the paint and bodywork. Flaws include some dings that were not repaired before paint, a couple cracks in the paint at the front of the hood, orange peel in some areas etc. No visible rust or rust bubbles. Rust repairdone in the past include a couple sections of the floor, lower rear quarters and trunk drop offs. Glass is good, Hidden headlight grill is nice and much better than most. Some damage to seat reinforcement on underside where it looks like someone put a jackstand under it, which seems to be quite common on these cars as people mistake it for a frame rail. Rear window louvers are in good shape. Laser stripes are overall good with some minor wear on some of the edges. Chrome and trim is in overall good shape. Magnumwheels are very nice and tires are fairly new. The interior has been mostly restored and is in nice shape. It is mostly stock except for the addition of an aftermarket radio, rear deck speakers and some aftermarket gauges in the dash. Upholstery, carpet, headliner, door panels and rearpackage tray are all in good shape. Dash has a cap on it but it looks nice and is hard to distinguish from a factory dash pad. It could use some weatherstripping replacement such as front door seals, roofrail etc. Still has the original shifter with T handlethat has set screw on the side. The engine was rebuilt at the time of restoration and is very strong with no smoke or noise and it has very good oil pressure. It has ported DOVE heads, a larger cam, Hooker headers, Edelbrock intake and a Holley carb. It runs very strong. It has correct CJ valve covers. Toploader transmission works well and has the original shifter and T handle. The clutch is smooth. It has a 31 spline traction lock rearend with 3.00 gears just like it came from the factory however it does not appear to bea nodular case. It has dual exhaust with glasspack style mufflers and is fairly loud. Lights, signals, heater etc work. Wipers work, however they do not want to park properly. The car is smooth on the highway with no noticeable vibration. The power steeringhas some play and it could use a control valve and idler arm to tighten it up. Overall this is a desirable Torino GT with rare options such as a 4 speed, hidden headlights and rear window louvers. Calypso Coral is a fantastic color and the laser stripes really set it off well. It is not very often that you can buya running driving factory Cobra Jet 4 speed Torino in this price range. It looks great driving down the road and gets lots of thumbs up and compliments at the gas station. Not a show car but one you can drive and enjoy and maybe someday repaint it and installthe correct Cobra Jet and have a high dollar muscle car. International buyers are welcome. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 49year old car that is not new and has not been fully restored.
