Description of 1973 Ford Thunderbird |
Hi everyone. I'm looking to sell my eye catching TBird. $15,000 (CAD) invested since 2012! Appraised for $13,500. 1973 was a unique year as it shared the 1972 tail light and rear bumper structure also has the 1974-1976 grill and front bumper. It also shares a lot of looks and quality with the Lincoln Mark series. I bough the US car from original family estate in 2012. The car was gifted to Capt Loren H. Torkelson USAF for his service and Viet Nam POW captivity from his home town. He kept the car until his death and the family also kept it for sentimental reasons and respect. It was sold through a friend to me. Everything is original numbers matching. Has 90,157 miles on car, but only 500 on the engine and tranny. I've had many important updates and rebuilt items since I brought it home (and yes, I have receipts and correspondence copies): - 460 4 barrel engine totally removed and rebuilt by Moose Jaw's Ivan Bida speedshop. Overbored .030 bringing it to 466. Speed Pro hyper eutectic pistons, premium molly ring set, double roller straight up timing, Police Interceptor hydraulic camshaft and lifters, micro polished crankshaft, TRW Clevitte 77 rod and amin bearings, etc. Nothing left untouched or replaced. Pushing torque up to around 400 ft pounds. - 4300 carb has been rebuilt, but runs a bit lean at idle. I've tried to tune it out, but I think it's probably time for a replacement. - Pertronix electronic ignition upgrade along with high voltage coil - Transmission also rebuilt. All clutches, seals, etc. - Signal and brake lights upgraded to LED - Rear bumper rechromed with rear bumper guards removed (looks much nicer like the 1972 was as an option). - Paint has had one respray from before I bought it. Vinyl roof also had been replaced. - Gas tank has been relined at Ric's radiator. Although the gas gauge is a bit intermittent - sometimes shows empty. Probably just needs a new sending unit. - American Racing AR Torque thrust wheels put on for a sporty yet period looking improvement. I do have the original wheels and hubcaps. New radials with white walls to add some period punch. Why am I selling this great piece of big iron? As empty nesters, we find ourselves wanting to travel a bit and I'm just not driving the car that much anymore. It has been garaged since I bought it in 2012. Premium gas and treated every winter. I have bought most of the front end/steering parts thinking I'd replace them to tighten up the steering a bit but haven't gotten to it. Those parts are included, along with the original wheels and hubcaps. The car is located in Moose Jaw, about 45 minutes from Regina Saskatchewan. I can arrange to have it transported down to a US border crossing along eastern Montana or western North Dakota, but please include $300 for transport costs (trailer, gas). No transport without full payment, which can be eTransfer, Paypal or check (which must clear first). I can include more pictures or answer any questions. Thanks. |
