Description of 1974 Ford E-Series Van Econoline Super Van E200 camper conversion van |
Up for auction is this 1974 Ford E200 Econoline Super Van camper Conversion Van. This was Converted to a Camper Van By Open Road Industries in 1973. We believe the motor is 302 Windsor. This van is a true time capsule. It really is like stepping back into 1974 when you are inside of it ! The body is extremely nice for its age. We could only find a few places of rust. One of them being the battery box area. The other area we can see is the lower RH rear lower wheel well has a small rust hole. Overall this Van is a great example of an E200 Econoline SuperVan and will make a great restoration project for someone. We did recently hear the motor run for a short time and it sounded great. The carb has a small fuel leak and will need new gaskets for sure. The brakes feel like they want to pump up but currently have no pressure. My guess is that they just need bleeding or light servicing in order to work but may need some wheel cylinder or master cylinder work ? We are unsure. We have not road tested the van. We are unsure of the transmission condition or if it will need tranny work. If it does need a transmission rebuild it looks like it would be an easy swap with clear access to the top transmission bolts from inside the cab. We just cannot say because we have not went through everything on the van or had it to that point. This van will need to be towed or loaded on a trailer due to its age. It has been sitting since 2013 The fiberglass top looks to be original but it does have some cracks in it and during heavy rains it will drip a bit due to that reason. The front windshield is cracked. This van is unrestored and will most likely need some restoration and repair work to be a daily driver once again ! All of the doors open and close nicely. The hood flew open on the road while the van was being towed at one time and when that happened the two aluminum hood hinges broke causing some damage to the hood flap. Really easy fix. The Van is a unique Liquid Propane Open Road Conversion van and the original Propane tank remains intact in the back of the van. It will run on propane or Gasoline. We are unsure of The propane systems working condition or if it will need to be serviced or restored. We had the engine running on fuel by spraying some fuel into the carb with a spray bottle to see if it would run. Thats as far as we got with it. The rest is up to you ! Super great, very low rus, low mileage, Econoline SuperVan ! The Van also comes with its original Protecto-plate as well as the other paperwork shown.
