Description of 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT

TRUE SURVIVOR!! 1978 Ford XLT Ranger 7.5 Liter 460 Engine 2 wheel drive 80 - 85% original from the day it rolled off the factory floor. That includes the engine, transmission & rear differential. I have often been told this a very rare truck because it still has the original wiring harness in it and it has not been butchered. I paid close attention not to devalue it with unnecessary wiring repairs. I have owned this truck for 19 years maintaining it and keeping it in driving condition. About a year ago the truck started to run rough and had an intermittent sputter while at idle. I took it into a local mechanic and he said there is 30% blow by in 3 cylinders. He gave me an estimate to rebuild or replace the engine. The engine has not run in a little over a year. It will need a new fuel pump, battery charged and it WILL run again. The reason I have priced this truck at $2400 is it sat for 8 years before it was brought back to life. So the mileage is low for this year model pickup. I am the third owner on the truck and the guy I bought it off of said he did some mechanic work for a farmer in Wichita Falls, Tx and the guy paid him by giving him the truck. The previous owner said he charged the battery, put some fresh fuel in it and it started. He drove it for a while and I purchased it in 2000. Serious collectors should take note that this is a Texas truck bought in Wichita Falls, Tx in 1978. It only has 2 spots of cancer on the body and when I took it into a body shop they said it would be no problem to repair it. Everything else is surface rust. I have the original build document and the original sales receipts for the serious collectors. I have kept meticulous records on this old beast and the new owner will get all the documents mentions and the ones in the photos. This also includes the original owners manual and related manuals and receipts of all the repairs I have done on the truck over the years. I had a set of Headman headers installed back in 2003. However, I still have the original exhaust manifolds. It currently has an Edelbrock Carburetor on it but I have the original Motorcraft Carb and will turn it over to the new owner. These are the original steel wheels from when it was built and to my knowledge, the hubcaps are from the '70s as well. I purchased (1) Cragar 8" chrome wheel with a BF Goodrich P 275/60 R15 tire. And also (1) Cragar 10" chrome wheel with a BF Goodrich P 295/50/ R 15 tire. As you can see from the photo these tires and wheels have less than 100 miles on them. I did not purchase the second set because I decided to keep it original with the steel wheels. The Cragars are your when you buy it. I had the front suspension rebuilt several years ago for $1000. The Kingpins were replaced then as well. I have also had the air conditioner repaired converting it to R134 but the condenser was not replaced and the system can easily be converted back to R12. Serious inquiries only. Clear title ready to be signed over to the new owner. I am flexible on the price. Again this is a very unique survivor that a real collector will appreciate owning.
