Description of 1950 Ford Other Wagon |
I'm selling this 1950 Ford Woodie on behalf of the owner. The car was purchased from the previous owner in Southern California about 5 years ago. It now resides in Rancho Cucamonga. CA. Interior is in great condition. Exterior is in good shape. however we believe paint could be an old respray or very possibly original. Wood is in good to fair condition as you can see in the pictures. According to the current owner the previous owner was a surfer who was friends with Hobie and other famous surfers. The previous owner provided the following history of the car:"This station wagon was originally purchased new from the Ford assembly plant in Long Beach. CA in 1950. Probably for a little less than $2. 00 as it is the mid-range model. It lived in the same neighborhood where I was growing up in Manhattan Beach. Then in 1958 the owner moved south to Zacapu. Mexico where he re-registered it thru the "Secreteria de Hacienda y Credito Publico" (Mexico's DMV). The brass Michoacan. Mexico I. D. plate is still riveted to the right door jam. In the supper of 1999 I purchased the car in pretty much the same shape you see here. And it was driven the 2500 miles back up to California. The bullet hole in the drivers door is real! Donated free from a happy boracho pistolero at a fiesta. The right tail light body is fashioned from a tin can. The original birds-eye maple wood went to the birds. unable to withstand the tropical climate. The local coffin and door maker in Zacapu remade the wood using wood from the Parota tree. The same as used for dug-out canoes. using only hand tools!"Actual mileage is unknown as the odometer does not work. |
