Harboring plenty of period correct power, courtesy of one of Ford's most coveted big blocks, and featuring a fresh, thoroughly stock appearance, this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 is one very sharp looking classic. It's in outstanding running condition as well, so you can climb behind the wheel and get the fun started with no delay. This spacious cruiser wears a clean black exterior, which mirrors its original color. Having received a thorough freshening up a while... back, it has a nice shine and consistently smoothly texture - a dividend of having been consistently garage-kept over the years. Move closer for a better look and you'll see that this vintage Ford's exterior alignment is very much on point - Galaxies from this era featured trim on their sides that literally spanned the entire length of their sides and the examples here are nice and level as they transition from fender to door to rear quarter panel. Exuding thorough authenticity, the car wears an assortment of badging that's in good form, along with chrome ornamentation that's in consistently excellent condition and the glass surrounding the cabin is as clear as can be. With an interior this spacious you'll want to invite friends along, as this is a cruising vehicle par excellence. There are big bench seats in front and back, covered in fresh looking red vinyl and plush padding and there's plenty of room separating the two rooms of seating. The dash area on this Galaxie differs from most cars of its era, as it's configured with a "single cove" design where the driver's area is clearly differentiated from everything else up front. It's impressively clean as well, with a collection of clear, readable factory gauges in place just beyond the steering wheel and a clean band of chrome running the width of the dash. The original AM radio is still in place at the center, but as far as audio is concerned, the heavy lifting is done by the AM/FM/Cassette stereo just below it that teams with a CD changer to offer plenty of listening options. In back, the trunk area is nearly cavernous, with plenty of luggage space for weekend outings even with the full size spare on board. The FE V8 engines Ford dropped into its Galaxies, Mustangs and Torinos during this era developed quite a bit of torque, and this 390 is no exception. Unaided by aftermarket bolt-ons and recently emerging from a tuneup, it's good for just under 400 ft-lb of twist, so expect your passengers to be pushed back into their seats when you step into it. Just as important, the engine starts right up, runs smoothly and sits in a nice, clean engine compartment, crowned by a chrome air cleaner over a 4-barrel carb and wearing a pair of chrome valve covers at its sides as it sends a deep, resonant note out of its factory exhaust. It's bolted to a 3-speed C4automatic transmission that shifts without issue and is known for its trouble-free performance. Take a peek underneath and you'll see a surprisingly unblemished undercarriage - it's well prepped to face the elements, there are no obvious dings on the frame rails and the floor pans look great. Power steering makes for easy navigation, while power brakes that position discs up front and feature an upgraded booster bring low-effort, fade resistant stops to a set of 15" Keystone wheels. Outstanding curb appeal and rumbling big block power make this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 a classic car force to be reckoned with. Call today!
