This example is a truck survivor truck with nice original paint, with less than 65,000 miles showing on the clock and believed to be original but sold mileage exempt due to age. This Bronco was sold new in our local area at Poage Ford in Bowling Green, Missouri and only had two loving owners since new.Dressed in its original Medium Dark Brown Metallic (code 5Q) and Light Desert tan (code 9Q), the truck's paint and trim are in overall very good order, with just some minor blemishes visible at close range. The truck's windows, including the rear side windows that roll up into the roof, and the moonroof, are in good order, as are the vehicle's lights. This example has a body-colored external sun visor along with a tinted air deflector at the hood's leading edge and clear side window deflectors. The engine bay is in good, original order, the battery looks very good and the truck's chrome bumpers are in very good shape. This Bronco rolls on BFGoodrich Radial Sport Truck TA white letter tires, size 31x10.50R15LT tires at all four corners. Each tire is mounted on factory, alloy wheels with Ford locking hubs in front. The wheels and tires are all in good, original condition.Under the hood is Ford's 2.8L Cologne V-6 engine, needed to match the Blazer's and Jimmy's similarly sized V-6. Backing this motor is Ford's C5 three-speed automatic transmission, a 7.5-inch rear end with 3.45:1 gearing, a Borg-Warner 1350 two-speed transfer case and a Dana 28 Twin-Traction Beam front axle. Driver convenience features include air-conditioning, power steering, power brakes with disc in front, cruise control intermittent wipers, rear defroster, rear window wiper and a moonroof.Inside, the Light Desert Tan interior is in overall amazing original condition. The cloth seats look excellent. The front passenger seat in the Bronco II has a novel, lift-up-and-forward mechanism to facilitate rear seat entry and exit. The matching tan carpet is in similar shape, as is the headliner. The factory, three-spoke steering wheel is present and looks great. The instrument panel has a full array of gauges and is in good, original order while the inner door panels echo the rest of the interior's condition. Between the front seats was another then-novel feature, an computer light warning system for low fuel level and many exterior lights. The first Bronco II was developed in parallel with the Ranger pickup truck that was introduced for the 1983 model year. Introduced in March 1983, Ford marketed the Bronco II as a "vehicle for men, single people, or young couples ... almost like John Wayne vehicles ... that gave people the sense that they could conquer anything ..." While the Bronco II was nearly a foot shorter than the competing Chevrolet S-10 Blazer (introduced for 1982), the use of the Ranger chassis allowed for lower production costs by using a common assembly line with many shared components.Competition to this Bronco II in 1984 included Chevrolet's S-10 Blazer, GMC's S-15 Jimmy, Isuzu's Trooper, Jeep's CJ-7 and Cherokee XJ, Mitsubishi's Montero and Toyota's 4Runner.Classic Ford Truck fans, if you want something unique for your collection, even if you simply put it on a pedestal versus driving it, this 1984 Ford Bronco II XLT 4x4 might just be up your alley.
