Description of 1965 Ford Mustang Custom |
This sleek little hot rod convertible is a take on what the 1965 Mustang Convertible could have been. If you drive the car. you will agree that it is exactly what the first generation Mustang should have been. This 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible is a complete top to bottom restoration that incorporates many of the best available Pro-Touring parts into a car that now handles like it is on rails. Starting with a car that was stripped down to bare metal and built from the ground up. this Mustang has seen a complete rotisserie restoration that was completed two years ago and has less than 1. 00 miles all its components. The car has beautifully finished paint and subtle cosmetic enhancements like the slightly duck-tailed rear spoiler. roll bar. flushed dual exhaust system. big stance rear tires. and hand pin striping. Follow the details underneath the car. and you will find a take on the original Mustang undercarriage. when you see the Red Oxide floor color which has a nice coat of clear over it. unlike the original flat finish. The engine compartment is extremely clean and sterile. simply acting as the a showcase for the 347 engine. The Mustang sports the full Heidts Superide II independent front suspension and 4-link rear end. The new front end solves all of the early Mustang geometry and handling issues with a complete redesign featuring tubular control arms. rack and pinion steering. and billet coilover shocks. The 4-link set-up provides rocking traction off the line. sans annoying wheel hop and general instability. The car grabs like crazy and never loses composure. When you want to stop. stomp the brakes and the Wilwoods go to work. They are a nicely upgraded set with 12" rotors and polished calipers. The Mustang was constructed with a freshly built 347 stroker engine that really gets after it. It features Ross Racing pistons. a Bullet Cam. a Barry Grant Demon Carb. Weiand Stealth Intake. Melling oil pump and Trick Flow heads. It is extremely "snappy" and makes serious power without sacrificing reliability or driveability. The motor uses a Concept One. billet serpentine system that really cleans up the look of the engine. Ignition is electronic. via an MSD system and the engine-driven fan is long gone in favor of a efficient electric one. Gone is the original transmission and its place sits a Tremec TKO 500 unit. This nice overdrive unit hooks up to a Ford 9" rear end built with 3. 73 Tru Trac gears and Moser 31 spline axles. The combination is awesome and the parts utilized are top notch. The interior is an exercise in subtle custom touches. The JME dash cluster has all modern gauges housed in a machined aluminum setting. The seats have been upgraded to a contemporary set up. but notice the Pony interior on the uprights. A nicely done center console replaces the original. and the radio has been upgraded to a modern unit with an old school look. For the Mustang enthusiast looking for an awesome performance car. the Mustang is the deal. |
