1940 Ford Super Deluxe Coupe Excerpt from the foreword section of original owner's manual... "The fact that you are the owner of a new Ford car is, in itself, an indication that you have a keen appreciation of a well-designed, carefully manufactured automobile. It has been designed to perform faithfully for many thousands of miles, and Ford Motor Company has the utmost confidence that this car will fulfill your expectations." I think this wraps it up nicely! For consignment this beautifully iconic Ford Deluxe. Wonderful condition all around with key upgrades for drivability and reliability convenience. Presenting very nicely, and a great driver, I can attest to this from firsthand experience. Exterior Chrysler Maroon covers all the straight, dent and rust free, steel panels that make up the exterior of this car. Some bondo areas are noted and can be seen by slight sanding marks left behind. Paint is in good condition up front, very nice art nouveau style grille is flanked by 2 teardrop shaped headlights which are framed in deluxe oversized bezels. Chrome and write work are excellent and led taillights and turn signals replace the originals. Ford moon style hubcaps and trim rings frame matching maroon steel wheels, and all is wrapped with thin whites. Interior Like the original mohair, new material lines the door panels and stretches over the front split bench. The seats have been fitted with seatbelts. Behind the split bench is a storage area topped by another storage tray. It is not known if this is the way the original car was, or if this option was available, however with this installed, this car could have been the ultimate salesman coupe. All working new gauges have been installed into the pristine dash, which is maroon metal, a beautiful yellow cream gauge cluster, and plenty of horizontal chrome grillwork in the center. Noted is a clock in the center of the glovebox, and hanging below this dash is an aftermarket stereo, and 2 gauge cluster. Fronting the dash is the original pristine 3 metal spoked steering wheel with a bakelite rim. Warm dark tan carpet covers the floors and presents very nicely. Drivetrain The original engine has been replaced by a 1951 8BA engine and converted to a 12-volt system. Consigner states that there is approximately 2,000 miles since the engine replacement. Fenton cast iron headers snake their way rearward, through dual exhaust. A 3-speed transmission shifted on the column is noted. Also, a word about the engine, it is a very clean Flathead, as one can see, and has been very well maintained, with no corrosion, and within a very well re-sorted engine bay. Undercarriage As expected, showroom new. New gas tank, all fully restored undercarriage, and as beautiful as the top side. New wheel cylinders all around as well as a new master cylinder, and new suspension. No worries under here! A wonderful example of the 1940 Ford Super Deluxe coupe with a salesman's flair and a replaced engine. Very clean, and very smooth driver.
