Description of 1960 Ford Thunderbird -- |
We all thought the second-generation T-Bird was a mean machine, but this 1960 Ford Thunderbird coupe is downright wicked. And because there's plenty of V8 power under the hood, it makes for a true midnight cruiser. These cars were affectionately called "square birds" because of the sharp angles, and an overall wide stance that looks like it wants to own the road. That spirit is enhanced quite nicely here with the custom blackout package. Long gone is the factory white paint. In its place you have a slick black that loves to show off the subtle curves in the profile and the fancy dip in the trunk line. The bumper were once chrome kings, but now they seem to draw even more attention in matte black. They even added tinted windows and American Racing Torq Thrust wheel is a special black to complete the look. You'll also notice they left many of the brightwork details intact, like the fender ornaments, trim around the hardtop roof, and the Thunderbird badges. It the whole package a thoughtful appearance, so it's a mean T-Bird that never loses its luxury look. Inside the blackout package continues. And they have made newer investments in the carpeting, seat covers, and elsewhere to give this a nice feeling. A personal coupe like this means the driver is king. That's why you have a bucket seats, center console, and a grippy wood-rimmed steering wheel. Plus, the power windows mean you never have to leave the driver's seat to show off this pillarless hardtop profile. Under the hood is a proper 352 cubic-inch V8. It looks as dark as the rest of the coupe, but while this Thunderbird has an evil look, the way it runs is a true delight. There's even a new distributor and wires. This V8 is far larger than anything offered in the first-generation T-Bird, and so this big block V8 has the right power and torque to confidently move this coupe. Plus, the glasspack-style dual exhaust gives it the right tone to backup the custom look. And it's easy to enjoy this full package everywhere thanks to power steering, power brakes, and the three-speed automatic transmission. This is a sinister-looking T-bird offered for a sweet price.
