Description of 1971 Ford F-100 XLT |
For sale we have a 1971 Ford F-100 XLT Ranger pickup. If you want to see bunches of pictures copy and paste this link to view88 Pictures https://eclectictradingcom.wixsite.com/onlinestore/ford-f-100-pics It is a 2 wheel drive with a 390 cu.in. engine, automatictransmission, power steering, power brakes, factory spotlight, split rear window. It is a straight old truck that should be in a strong position for arestoration. It has never been wrecked but does have a few small dings. You can drive it home BUT this truck has a few issues. It needs a carburetor overhaul or a new carb. It currently has 2 bbl. I would recommend the buyer trailer it home but it will their choice. It has a new fuel pump (mechanical) a new alternator, new belts, new hoses, new spark plug wires, a new rear differential, new donut bushing on drivers side I Beam Support beam and a new heater blower motor. The tool box built into the side functions and is good. It has the key to lock it. It has dual fuel tanks. The rear one will leak if you overfill it so it will need attention. It doesn't useexcessiveoil. It has a blown donut typeexhaustgasket atthe manifold. It will need a valve job because it runs and idles rough. I am not a pro mechanic but I would bet on a valve job is needed. It holds oil pressure "see one of the pics as it shows the oil pressuregaugewith motor running" It also seems to need power steering fluid added too often but there is no obvious leak to me. The interior is ratty, see pics. Radio does not work. Windshield has several rock pits. It has some typical rust holes at the front of the box and in the corners. Also there is a rust hole at the step area inside the cab on drivers side. Cab support brackets are good. And its worse issue, it likes gasoline as all Fords of this era so it won't save you any gas. It has never been used as a farm truck or a construction truck. It has never been messed up by a teenage kid. I am selling it as I have too many vehicles and I quit driving it 5 years ago. It has been sitting out. The tires are in fair shape. Truck comes with a spare tire and rim. With some TLC this would be a real nice truck. Since it does not have terrible frame or body issues this truck will be a fairly easy restoration. The values of these models after restoration is impressive. I do think that a straighter old truck will be hard to find. |
