Description of 1966 Ford Mustang GT Tribute Convertible |
Decked out in a great exterior color and featuring some nice add-ons to give a fitting nod to the top tier counterparts of its era, this 1966 Ford Mustang GT Tribute Convertible is not only a super sharp representative of one of the most pivotal automotive models ever to roll off an assembly line, but it also offers an outstanding vintage driving experience, anchored by a period correct engine enhanced with top quality components. This Pony presents a pleasingly polished appearance and is cloaked in an eye-catching shade of red. It's a fine match for this model, bearing a very close resemblance to a couple of different offerings on the color chart when this '66 debuted to provide a convincingly authentic appearance. The paint is in good shape - come in for a closer view and you won't find any glaring blemishes to detract from the enthusiasm a car like this creates, and a detailing session will elevate it further. There's an array of GT callouts on board this Pony, including white rocker stripes, properly placed fender badges, driving lights that bracket the signature running horse emblem in the front grille and a pair of fluted exhaust tips in back that peek out just below the added GT gas cap. The body panels line up nicely and, with its accompanying power white vinyl convertible top looking good and rising into place without issue and clean chrome bumpers at both ends, this is a classic that will certainly draw its share of admiration on the boulevard. As is the case with the exterior, the emphasis inside the doors is on a faithful recreation of factory configuration. There's a clean deluxe Pony interior now in place, featuring a parchment color that was one of the more coveted shades when this '66 was new. Both the bucket seats in front and the bench seat are road ready and free from any marked discoloration and are bracketed by matching, upgraded Pony-style door panels. The buckets straddle a factory center console that's contrasted by the darker carpet below and is accented by an unblemished chrome panel. The dash area is in fine shape, with a collection of functional factory gauges in the instrument cluster and an AM/FM/Cassette stereo - the only noticeable deviation from stock, but one that blends well with its surroundings - in place at the center. The underdash air conditioner is in fine form, more than up to the task of keeping you and your occupants comfortable. The trunk area is lined with signature Ford plaid fabric that could use a replacement, but its inner fenders and wheelhouses are in plain sight and appear very solid. Under the hood, a period correct 289 cubic inch V8 - a member of a class of small blocks renowned for their reliability - resides inside the engine bay, armed with an Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carb to maximize its abilities. A Cobra dress up kit on the valve covers and oblong air cleaner adds to the eye candy inside and a little detailing will have this compartment looking great. The 289 is paired with a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and is in fine form - starting right up, running smoothly and sending a smooth deep note out of the aftermarket dual exhaust. Power steering makes navigating this classic a breeze as this sharp Mustang sits with just the right stock, level stance on a set of 14" Magnum 500 wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich T/A Radials. This 1966 Ford Mustang GT Tribute Convertible has all the definitive trappings of a GT but can be had for a fraction of the price. Call today! |
