This is a true California original as it is was ordered by San Jose Ford Truck Sales in San Jose, CA, it was built at the Ford plant in San Jose, CA and hasn't ventured far from the greater San Francisco bay area. This truck was built on the final day of production 12/22/78 at the San Jose California assembly plant before the Christmas/New year holiday break where Ford plants shut down production until the new year in mid January 1979. In 1978 color code #6 "Bright Yellow" was only offered at the San Jose assembly plant and only offered in the 1979 model year at the Lorain, Ohio plant. This example still has the original assembly line stamp 12/22 on the radiator support so is most likely the final Bright Yellow ever built in San Jose. Cosmetically the pictures really speak for themselves. This is an absolutely stunning example of a 1979 Ford F-250 4 wheel drive truck. The bright Yellow paint is not a color you see often, but it looks right on this truck and makes it stand out. The paint is vibrant and shines nice there are no spots where it is peeling. The body is straight with no dents and definitely absolutely no rust. All of the original trim pieces re there and shine great with no pitting or damage. The emblems, and especially the XLT ones still are a vibrant red. The glass no cracks no do any of the lights which all work great. The bumper guard has protected the grill exceptionally well as it does no have dents or pitting. I honestly cannot say enough about this truck, I have seen many old trucks like this and none of them compare to the exceptional originality and the obvious care and preservation this truck has received over its 40 year lifespan. Climb up into the interior and you'll find it very similar to the exterior in quality. This F-250 is an Ranger XLT, meaning it is equipped with the top of the line trim and interior package. This includes the padded faux wood door panels which are in great original shape, there are no imperfections and he wood is still very vibrant. The Ranger XLT also has the fancier dash with the wood inserts which like the door panels are in fantastic shape. I am amazed at the rich color the wood and the XLT emblems still have, this goes to show this truck didnt just sit out and bake in the sun all its life. The fancier steering wheel with wood was also included in the Ranger XLT package and again look great on this truck. If you know Fords you know these inserts never last and the fact this steering looks the way it does is amazing. The original seat has a few small separations at the seam otherwise is in great shape and for 40 year old truck bench. The original carpet has no rips or tears and looks great. The Ranger XLT also has a headliner which in this truck is in great shape. These commonly fall apart and do not age well, again the fact this one looks like it did in 1979 is a testament to how it lived its life for the last 40 years. Everything is functional, all of the lights work, heater gets hot and AC gets cold, the radio works Mechanically this truck is sound. The original 351M V8 motor starts up effortlessly and runs great. It doesn't leak nor does it get hot. The truck shift effortlessly and is a pleasure to drive, something I cannot say about all 4x4 Ford from 1973-1979. The New Process 205 shifts into 4x4 good and the high pinion Dana 44 front axle with a HD Dana 60 rear axle get you through the toughest terrain with ease. The compressor for the AC was recently replaced and AC blows cold. This truck is in good mechanical condition.
