Description of 1930 Ford Model A Sedan |
You don't come across many opportunities like the one this 1930 Model A Sedan presents. Back in the day, it shouldered the task of picking up where its predecessor, the Model T, left off. And since by the time it debuted the country had come to view driving as far more than a transportation novelty, its standards had grown substantially higher. Nicely restored while retaining a period correct mechanical configuration and appearance, this venerable vehicle runs and drives great and is sure to draw an admiring crowd wherever it goes. The exterior features an excellent two-tone paint job pairing a burgundy foundation with black over the flowing fenders and running boards and topping the cabin, with contrasting lightly painted wheels helping to create a presence you won't want to look away from. Despite having been applied a while back, the paint itself remains in good shape and this color combo confers just the right appearance for a classic like this. The vinyl top is free of any cracks or marked sun damage and a thorough polishing will up the appearance of the entire array of exterior chrome. The Ford labeled headlights straddling that signature front grille enclosure, as well as the etched cabin windows and full-size spare tires mounted on both front fenders offer even more appealingly authentic details. Inside, two rows of plushly padded seating reside at the center of a freshly-restored interior chock full of vintage style. Both rows of bench seating wear well-fitted mohair covers with tuck and roll detailing and in the back you'll find a fold down armrest - an amenity rarely found in cars of this era - to provide your passengers with an extra degree of comfort. The tan surfaces of the door panels are free of any discoloration, with storage pockets that still feature sturdy stitching. While you can see some signs of wear on the carpet below, it does tie in well with the seating and a simple cleaning will elevate its appearance. Just beyond the period correct steering wheel, the clover shaped original instrument cluster has been thoroughly refurbished and harbors a set of functional controls that are surrounded by a clean dash area ornamented with contrasting pinstriping. Just as was the norm in cars of this vintage, the entire cabin is dedicated to passenger seating, but the storage box riding over the back bumper supplies some substantial cargo room. Raise a section of the vented hood and you'll find a period correct 201-cubic inch flat head 4 cylinder inside that's mated with a 3-speed manual transmission, just as was the case so many years ago when this Ford was new. The powerplant sits in a well-detailed engine bay, with its freshly painted surfaces contrasted by the surrounding black inner fenders and is fed by a factory style one barrel carburetor. One of the marked advantages the Model A has over its predecessor, the Model T, is in performance, and this specimen is proof, as it's in good driving form, capable of maintaining speeds in excess of the Model T's maximum, and its set of mechanical drum brakes still bring dependable stops. This rolling homage to a truly pivotal time in the American automotive industry rolls on a set of 18" sharply painted wheels wearing 4.75-5.00-18 tires and wrapped in Firestone whitewall tires for just the right authentic look. If you're searching for that special antique vehicle carrying loads of nostalgic value into the present day, while also offering a fully functional condition, this 1930 Model A Sedan represents a very rare find.
