1968 Ford F100 Pickup The current F-series as we know it has been the bestselling truck for 39 consecutive years and for 34 of those years it was the best-selling vehicle overall in America. Believe it or not, it wasn't until 1959 that the original F-100 got factory four-wheel drive. And last but not least the front bumper was the longest running unchanged component for the entire F-series from 1959-1979. WOW! For consignment a very nice and very cool truck right out of 1968. Lots of nice trim even on the bed top rails, decent exterior paint with slight markings from everyday usage, but certainly nothing terrible, and a nice interior bottomed off by set of snazzy 15-inch chromed wheels and all season radial tires. Exterior Spending its life in Georgia, this truck has no rust, straight panels and a few areas of paint scratches and surface markings, but it is from wholesome use. Nice trim runs the length of the truck and it's on the midline as wells the rockers and wheel well surrounds. A well preserved front grille and bumper are leading the way. Bringing up the rear is another nice bumper, and a badged tailgate with a trim surround and aluminum plate in the center. Chrome tipped 2.5-inch exhaust tips peek out from below. The bed remains nice, and again has had some use, but nothing remarkable. A sliding rear window is noted as are nicely chromed exterior mirrors hanging from either side. 15-inch chromed wheels are wrapped by Cooper Discovery HT tires. Interior Climbing past nice door panels with a rectangular embossed design in black we climb into the tuck and roll velour inserted seats in black with smooth gray vinyl bolsters. This bench is very nice with no tears or even wear showing. A look to the original dash and it has a wonderful yellowing to the white plastic surround which goes nicely with the exterior matching dash front. The dash top is crack free padded black vinyl. Black carpet in good condition floods the floor. Above a white vented vinyl makes up the headliner. Drivetrain A 360ci V8 which is original to this truck powers a 3-speed manual transmission with the help of a Holley 2-barrel carburetor. A Ford 9-inch 3.50 geared rear puts power to the blacktop. Undercarriage This truck shows very well underneath with only hints of surface rust on the frame and suspension components. Dual exhaust with glasspack style mufflers expel burnt fossils to the rear of the truck. 4-wheel drum brakes are also noted. Nice and tidy would describe the undercarriage best. Drive-Ability A quick starter, and smooth idler, a tickle of the gas pedal and were off! This truck runs very nicely, shifts smoothly, corners nicely, and has a fairly smooth ride. The interior is comfortable, which is to be expected because Ford had the theory that their trucks were workers on the outside, but car-like interiors would rule. A good working example of the F-100, certainly not perfect, but it's a truck that works! No trailer queen here, just a worker in classic form. Well running, and snazzy looking, thanks to the south, and their lack of using salt when it may occasionally snow. Right here at Classic Auto Mall y'-all!
