Description of 1966 Ford Mustang GT Tribute |
This 1966 Ford Mustang is a distinct GT tribute with a serious fuel-injected power, a comfy A/C interior, overdrive transmission, and a detail-oriented look that makes it a unique and awesome speedy machine. There has been a ton invested in this coupe over the last few years - about $45,000 in total. The standout presentation on this coupe starts with the upgrade to Sahara Beige paint. We see plenty of nice Mustangs in more common colors, so we like that there was an investment in this 1966-only color. It has the kind of modern luster to look great against all the bright trim and styled steel wheels. Plus, this one has been custom crafted to offer hints at the sporty upgrades underneath the skin. It has great GT-style upgrades, like the fog lights in the grille, gas cap, and dual trumpet exhaust pipes coming through the rear valence. And not only do you have the rocker stripes done in a handsome brown, but also you have a Shelby-like dual racing stripes so fully painted on this one that it's even extends below the bumpers. Inside is a nice mix of vintage and new. We all love the look of a premium "Pony" package on an early Mustang, and this one is particularly fresh thanks to a $3,500 investment here. There are plenty of upgrades for comfort, like the cup holder center console, retro-style AM/FM digital tuner w/aux input, Duramat insulation, and cold-blowing R134a air conditioning. There are some nice performance-style upgrades, like the wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel and an upgraded Classic Instruments full gauge package, including speedo and tach. And the exterior's racing stripes return on the dash for a nice touch. You'll even love showing off the trunk. Not only are there practical pieces like the CD changer, subwoofer, and the Optima red top battery (for better weight distribution,) but also you'll love stylish elements like the LED lighting and custom carpeting that continues the exterior's racing stripes. It all reinforces how thoughtful the restoration was on this coupe. While there have been some nice investments inside and out, your performance heart is going to love the engine bay the best. It's a 374 cubic-inch stroker V8. It starts with a Dart block and has been enhanced and fortified with Dart Race aluminum heads and an Eagle balanced rotating assembly. Plus, this is topped with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and FiTech fuel injection. There's over $12k invested in the motor alone, and this was more than just about pure power. You have the right supporting components, too, like the serpentine belts, MSD ignition, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. The transmission is a versatile four-speed unit that is fortified to handle big power, and also shifts smooth for easy overdrive cruising. This feeds a limited slip rear end. The suspension was refreshed during the restoration, and now it even includes QA1 shocks. It has a confident feeling on the road, and that's furthered by power steering and a new power brake system with discs up front. The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and build receipts documenting the thousands $$$$$ invested in the restoration in just the last few years.
