Description of 1967 Ford Mustang GTA |
Are you tired of red resto-mod Mustangs yet? Perhaps this stunning Candy Apple Red 1967 Ford Mustang GTA coupe will cure what ails you. The incredible build not only gives the car serious performance credentials, but it's so drop-dead gorgeous that people will follow you for miles just to ask you about it. It's that kind of car. The transformation on this S-Code Mustang isn't as dramatic as you'd think, but that's the quality talking to you. The bodywork is nicely done and the deep red paint works better on the vintage Mustang body shell than just about anywhere else. It looks modern and clean, and with the correct white GTA stripe along the rockers, there's a bit of tradition in there, too (yes, this is a real-deal, Marti-report documented GTA). The paint looks so fresh you can almost smell it, and after a solid buff-and-wax, it will like a million bucks because even minor imperfections are really few and far between. The '67's details work exceptionally well, with the crease along the sides standing out clearly in red, showing off some straight bodywork. The color suggests a lot of modifications, but it's quite stock save for some crystal clear headlight lenses. Even better, check out how all that beautiful chrome really pops against the red finish, with shiny bumpers fore and aft, a correct GT grille insert complete with fog lamps, and that iconic GT gas cap and beautifully detailed taillights out back. This is a seriously nice GTA. The beautifully finished and extremely fresh interior sticks to the factory recipe as well, complete with low-back buckets and handsome black vinyl upholstery that's essentially an exact match for the original stuff. Precise stitching, neat pleats, and bright rectangular medallions in the seat backs all make this GT look very upscale, and ornate door panels, taut headliner above, and plush carpets below all match the upholstery perfectly. This GT also features functional air conditioning, which was finally integrated into the dash instead of tacked on in 1967, and the floor-shifted automatic transmission inside the brightly adorned factory middle console makes the Mustang feel sporty. Stock instrumentation is in crystal clear condition and the entertainment system was upgraded to an Alpine AM/FM/CD/USB/AUX head unit that was integrated seamlessly. There's a nice band of machined metal across the dash that matches the bright accents inside and sports things up further, and that wood-rimmed three spoke steering wheel is a piece of vintage art that really anchors this impressive interior. The back seat is neatly trimmed to match and has plenty of room for two, and the trunk offers a correct mat and steel wheel spare for an OEM look. Under the hood, the engine appears to be the original S-code 390 cubic inch V8, only because Ford did not abide by the numbers-matching criteria we find in Chevrolets, Mopars and other common classics. Topped with an 4-barrel carburetor and stock intake, it's docile enough to drive every day but powerful enough to be a thrill on the weekends, which is exactly what Ford always envisioned. The engine bay is dressed for show with lots of black wrinkle finish and polished aluminum and chrome, and the newer hardware ensures reliability. The A/C system was updated with modern components, although this was not a factory air car, and power steering (factory) and power front disc brakes are included, too. The front suspension is stock but appears fully rebuilt, and you can tell this was always an incredibly solid car because the floors are as nice and solid as the bodywork. A Flowmaster dual exhaust system has a great sound that lets the big 390 rumble a bit without getting annoying and it sits on gorgeous Magnum wheels and carry staggered 215/70/14 front and 245/60/14 rear BFGoodrich T/A white-letter performance radials. Yes, it's gorgeous. Yes, it's fast. Yes, it's comfortable. You could probably spend more money, but it's going to be hard to get more Mustang than this. Nicely documented with a Marti Report, owner's manuals, and service manuals, you can definitely buy with confidence. Call today! |
