Description of 1977 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT Super Cab |
This 1977 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT Super Cab gives you practical space with a rarely seen back seat. As you dig deeper you're going to discover a well-kept V8 classic that gives you a terrific vintage look while also delivering serious usability. The story passed down on this pickup is that it has spent most of the last 40+ years in the hands of the same family. It was sold brand new in Durham, and while the ownership eventually passed to a new caretaker, it is believed to always be a North Carolina truck. It's this more local history that delivers a well-respected classic. The factory Candyapple Red was given a respray later in life. It looks bold, but nothing too showy to take away the vintage respect. It fact, we imagine people are really just going to admire the straightness of the sheetmetal and completeness of the Ranger XLT's premium full-length trim. And while you'll love the classic look, right down to the chrome bumpers, don't forget that a truck like this was made to be functional. That's why you have side running boards, tow mirrors, and plenty of space in the long bed that's also protected by a rugged rubber mat. This came with a Trailer Special package from Ford, and it's still quite useful today when combined with the upgraded hitch and trailer brake control. Inside is a comfortable red interior that continues this truck's classic look and proper care. So you can see little upgrades like the re-dyed carpet and some inserts replaced over the years. But nothing looks out of place, right down to the trim on the cloth front seats. Plus, we know you love seeing a Super Cab. Rarely do you get to find a vintage truck that has the practicality of being able to carry the whole family. You get other great features like the AM/FM stereo, tilt steering column, and factory-optioned for air conditioning, though currently non-functional. And the added oil temp and pressure gauges are there when it's time to get down to proper truck work. The big 400 cubic-inch V8 looks nice under the hood with its big blue block, bright air cleaner, and correct details (like the jack that's still mounted to the inner fender.) In fact, this is even believed to be the factory setup. It fires up like a well-respected truck should, and the size of the motor means this has a confident feeling even when towing. But more than just practical, a preserved vintage truck like this deserves to be taken out for leisurely drives, and so it also was optioned correctly to be comfortable on the road. With a three-speed automatic transmission, twin I-beam front suspension, power steering, and power brakes w/discs up front, this is a great anytime classic. Complete with a Marti Report, it's going to be a while before you find such an interesting and useful classic pickup. And by then you'll likely pay at least twice as much.
