1978 Ford F250 Lariat Camper Special Single Cab Long Bed Highboy 4X4VIN # F26SRBG8194 Original 60K miles Clean Title No accidents Lariat/ Camper Special Package rare 2 tone color combinationRare factory Dana 60 front and rear end differential. Purchased from son of original owner with original 59K miles. Originally delivered to Dan Weibold Ford in Nampa. Idaho and remained there for all of its life until relocated to California. Garaged most of its life and never taken off road or used used to haul or pull trailer Original owner reports non-smoker and no history of accidents or body damage. Truck was completely stock with original paint and sheet metal. except original owner upgraded to after market manifold and carburetor. Recognizing the truck to be an excellent example I was compelled to restore this truck to excellent condition List of things I did to truck BODYWhen purchased paint was 6-7/10 however body panels where very straight and no evidence of rust or Bondo work. I purchased the truck for the classic rare two tone paint color. Decision was made to repaint with original ford color match. Truck was stripped of all moldings OEM aluminum moldings. Moldings were polished All Rubber seals. removed and replaced with Dennis Carpenter replacements to OEM specs Doors removed and stripped down to steel skin sanded primed and and painted with two stage paint process. Original driver door VIN tag carefully removed and replaced with factory OEM NOS rivets. Windshield and rear window removed and replaced with new glass. gaskets. and trim. Hood. tailgate and two doors were removed sanded primed and and painted with two stage paint processComplete Bed was frame off removed sanded primed and and painted with two stage paint processThe remaining body panels sanded primed and and painted with two stage paint processOEM Wheels were removed determined straight. sand blasted and powder coated white. Firestone off road radials were replaced with 80% tread wear remaining. Painting was done at a cost of over 6kMECHANICALTo make smog legal in California. an after market manifold and carburetor was added. OEM carburetor was found cleaned and rebuilt to factory specs. OEM manifold complete with smog equipment was found after long search and at expense. It was cleaned painted installed. Truck passed California emissions standards with flying colors on first attempt. ( super clean head when manifold removed) Mechanic confirmed consistent with low milage truck. All fluids where replaced. engine. transmission. coolant and differential. Complete tune up done. Engine runs stock smooth. transition fits smoothly. No unusual creaks or rattles. Original OEM Suspension was a bit soft and needed replacement. Decision was made to keep the truck stock excepts to give to give to level it suspension and provide and edgy stance. Front and rear leaf springs and shocks replaced with Rough Country components allowing a modest 3 “ lift complete with steering stabilizer? Exhaust tips replaced to accommodate 3” lift. INTERIORI was amazed at the exceptional condition of stock Lariat interior. Driver side bench seat was soft. Original vinyl upholstery removed. new springs and foam replaced and original upholstery replaced. Original carpet was deteriorating so it was removed and replaced with carpet color match to factory specs. Original headliner intact and in perfect shape. Original dash pad is clean and without cracksAfter Market radio removed Original dash instrument bezel was removed and replaced with aftermarket Dennis Carpenter Instrument bezel to accept OEM radio or radio of buyers choice. THINGS TO CONSIDER AC compressor works but needs conversion and charge. I do not need AC where I live so was not going to update. Needs OEM radio or aftermarket radio of your choice. THATS IT! this is not a 10 in and out but pretty close to a 9. Not a frame off restoration but close. Buyer to be given 5 days to complete inspection. |
