Description of 1930 Ford Model A Vicky

In all of Johnâ€™s cars we have found this same theme. He loves the inventing part of solving challenges, leading to the goal of creating his vision in the form of the car he has undertaken. John jokingly told me it was because he is frugal but everyone knows better. He just loves the challenge and the sense of completion. The 1930 Vicky is one that I have watched for several years being built. I decided to try filming John talking about his Vicky and adding it to the web site. It details how and what John did working with the car, from the beginning to the end. I would like to give a basic description of the car, but it is best hearing from John on our site.
The engine is a Mercury Marine V-6 with 220hp which was a Crate Motor from Mercury Marine when John got it. John wanted to build a fan shroud in front of the motor that would draw as much cooling air in as possible and did a fantastic job doing so. He got real excited showing me the â€œroundâ€ that he welded to the trailing edge facing the fan blade. The Turbo 350 Trans was a good one that was in the shop as was well as the Ford 8â€ rear end. Disk Brakes are up front and Drums in the back. I know I was going to stay away from talking about the built, but my two favorite parts on the car are the front fender supports he cut on a band saw from billet and the front blinkers he formed from brass using the shaped frame horns as a mandrel.
Ok, I am going to leave the description up to John on the videos. We have several on our site, but could only load the one to this sale. It could go on for pages and pages. The belly pan formed from a Ford four roof, the bows hand crafted from electrical conduit and shaped with Trex decking material so the roof did no sit directly on metal tubes, the modified flush fitting doors, the gas tank door in the back, the beautifully finished interior. Oh! It has great, working Air Conditioning. And John told me to make sure I mentioned the Exhaust Cut Outs. He really loves those.
Because the frame was replaced with a modern unit, when the car was titled in the state of Oregon, it branded as â€œReconstructedâ€. There was no damage or other issue, it was because it is not the original frame the car came from the factory with in 1930.
