Description of 1978 Ford Fiesta |
here is my daily driven 1978 Ford Fiesta S. it has been my daily for a few months and has been totally dependable and fun to drive, getting about 38 mpg and cruising comfortably on the highway around 75. i bought it from a high school student who had just got it from the original owner and quickly realized he couldnt give the car what it needed to make it a driver. the car ran and drove when i got it but the fuel system and brakes needed a total rebuild. i have done extensive work to it over the last few months including: NOS fuel tankNOS fuel sending unit and all sealsall new fuel line/filter and fuel pumpcompletely rebuild the car with a new floatNew aluminum radiator and all cooling hosesNew thermostatnew starternew distributor cap/rotor plugs and wiresretorque head, adjust valves set timing, larger idle jet.new ashley 4-2-1 exhaust system from burton power in england.completely rebuild brake system using all new parts;-brake hoses-new master cylinder and resovoir-new rotors and drums-new shoes and pads-rebuild brake calipers with new seals and pistons-new rear wheel cylinders-Ate type 200 dot 4 fluidNew battery relocated to the trunk with all new cabletotally rebuild steering rack using a custom made bronze rack carrier bushing.-new boots-new inner and outer tie rods-properly aligned by a local rally racer (i let him choose the settings and they work very well)60's era cibie super oscar rally lightsperiod correct 13x6 enkei alloy wheelsnew tires that should cover it! the car is mostly original paint except for the hood which i painted. there is a bit of bondo in the right rear corner and a bit of rust under where the battery used to sit in the engine bay. not bad and not structural. there is also a bit of rust under the passenger popout window seal. i have a set of totally rust free doors that could come with the car. The electrical system is in great shape and the car has great heat and a working rear defroster!the original glass sunroof was broken so i made a lexan panel to replace it. it looks pretty good and is hardly noticeable that its not factory however it does not open. the car has a clean oregon title heres a video of me driving it.https://youtu.be/NJnxHOSVDgo |
