Description of 1965 Ford Mustang

1965 Ford Mustang Coupe Project
Viva Las Vegas Autos Presents...

One Owner Since New! Yep, this is a one owner 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe that has a great story and a huge potential to be your story too. I buy vintage Mustangs from 1964.5 to 1973 and have had many later models too. But this particular Mustang is quite unusual for me to be listing in this condition. Usually my vintage Mustangs are completed, fully restored and most are show cars. I can't begin to even tell the story of how many times I have had requests for mid-way project cars that potential buyers could complete themselves. So, here is a first for me. I am listing this incredible "Project Style" 1965 Mustang Coupe as you see it just for you the buyer that wants a perfect start to what will be an incredible finished project. The first 100 images or so are after we have completely over-viewed the project and know exactly where we are at and I will be able to let you know what it needs to meet a basic completion and the very important aspect for any builder is "Where and what you will be starting with" which is incredibly important for any project you endeavor to take on. So the first place you will want to start is by thoroughly looking through the highly detailed images so you can see what you are starting with. I will disclose all that I know and I don't think I missed and inch so you will come away with an exceptional idea of what you will be getting.
To give some history of this 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe, let's start with where it started for me. Two years ago I was selling some furniture I didn't want anymore on local classifieds. The buyer of my recliner asked if I could deliver the chair, I agreed. When I arrived, we began to talk and I shared with them that I was a classic car dealer and restoration shop. They then shared with me the story of their family Mustang. This 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe was bought by her mother brand new in New Mexico. She was give the car years ago and decided to start the restoration that would really be a modified restore. The original color was Honey Gold Metallic with Light Ivy Gold Crinkle interior. They remember it having a black vinyl roof too. We later found a single piece of trim to confirm that as well. The restoration project took back stage to raising kids and marriage expenses and it sat partially finished for years. They asked if I would be willing to finish the restoration for them. I told them to just let me know when they were ready. Two years later, they called me and asked if I was just willing to buy it from them as it was. Parked in the driveway, parts stuffed inside the car and all over the garage floor. I made sure to spot everything that went with the Mustang and I think I did pretty great because it seems to all be there with the exception of minor finishing screws and bolts. The tires on the car were rotted and flat, the paint was faded and the cobwebs were everywhere. She was pretty dirty and I was just hoping it was mostly there. Had the car towed to my shop. Now no longer a full restoration shop after the first of the year 2020. But I wanted to inventory everything that came with the car, separate it into groups and packaged so you could easily find interior from exterior and engine items too. So we bought new tires, rolled it into the shop, steam cleaned the car in and out and refinished the underside to see the exceptional condition of the belly of the car. We packaged up the parts and kicked the engine over to make sure we had compression and a runable motor. Polished out the paint to see what we were working with and here she is. All windows except for the front windshield are present and in great condition. No window trim on the front or rear was found. Like I have said several times, if want a project that has all the right bones, rust free, accident free and ready to finish to your liking, this Mustang takes all the questions out so you know what you are getting and what you are not getting. So bid to own it. Delivery will be simple since it can roll and steer...but it does not have functioning brakes so make sure to take precautions for shipping. We will make sure all parts are secure inside and most will be placed in the lockable trunk.
As you look through the images, nearly 200 of them from top to bottom, enjoy this piece of history but if you wants to make this car a part of your history, don't be shy and bid like most eBay bidders do, call me and let's make a deal and show you how to close it early on eBay. Most bidders never have any real intent to buy on eBay, their bids obviously reflect their insincereity and lack of respect for quality collectible. You, the real buyer, I speak to you because you are actually reading this with real intent to want to see this classic in your garage. Just look down through my listing and you will see my phone number and please feel free to call. I am sure you have a pretty good honest idea of what this car will sell for and I am sure you will be able to make that deal with me if you call. Bidders that never read my auctions, send me that dumb question..."What's your bottom line, your lowest price, your ROCK BOTTOM...?" and I have to just laugh because I know that the only important issue they want to resolve is seeing how "Cheap" they can get the car and they haven't even read a single word of the presentation or looked at 98% of the pictures. You on the other hand have. So let's have a fun conversation so you can own this car at a great deal and have incredible confidence in a seller who's been at this on Ebay for the last 18 years with perfect feedback. Talk to you soon. 702-353-7500 Doug

Exterior...

Ok, I think we have your attention if you are still reading and starring at the first 16 images of the exterior of the 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe Project. As you can see so far, the exterior is in great condition. All the fenders, doors and roof are all original metal. I believe the lower right rear quarter panel just behind the rear wheel was replaced at least 10 inches from the bottom. Probably a tire blew out at one time. The car was owned since new from the family I bought it from. New, it resided in New Mexico until the family moved it to Las Vegas. Both states don't get moisture and therefore there are no signs of rust anywhere on the car. I could not see any body work on the front fenders, hood, doorr, roof or on the right quarter panel. I do believe a small dent occured just to the left of the right rear about midway between the right rear taillight and the fuel door inlet. When they replaced the rear end upper panel, you can see inside where they didn't finish the weld. When you see the car's underside, which has been fully refinshed already, the floors are absolutely stunning and along with the perfect subframes, front and rear, that is what makes this particular car such an incredible project to finish. The car is a rust free car with perfect original floors from front to rear. So unless you choose to repaint the car your own color, the current paint will do just fine. It was painted nearly 15 years ago and the restoration began back then too. so even though it's new paint, it shows wear. I am pretty certain it was an amature but decent. It's never been cut and polished so I am sure that would help too. Door seals. felts and rubbers are in good condition but original. We have new window felts in a box ready to install. As you will see in the pictures, exterior door handles, key bezels and trim are withe the parts. I have laid out the parts so you will be able to see what the car comes with. The only part I forget to take a picture of was the driveline shaft that is in the trunk. So please review the pictures carefully so you know what comes with the car. If you don't see it other than the driveline, it doesn't come with the car. If you want new items for your project, I am also a dealer for ScottDrake vintage Mustang parts. I can provide every part you would want for your project completion. The most important aspect to this project is the exceptional condition of the original metal, the rust-free floor and rust and damage free subframes. Let's stare at some more images of the exterior again...

Interior...

The interior of this 1965 Ford Mustang is nearly all new. The seats were re-upholstered both fronts and rear. The door panels are new, and we have a new padded dash too. New Visors and the original visor arms come with the car. The rest of the interior parts are with the parts shown on the table. The original instrument panel, the glove box door, the modern radio and speakers, the rear view mirror, the shifter lever and door arm rests. Again, if you do not see it with the pictures, it does't come with more than what you see. There is no carpet or headliner in or with the car. There is many more picture of the interior below so keep scrolling and reading since you are the real buyer.

Drivetrain...

Driving the car didn't take place as you car see, it is not in a position to drive. The engine is the original 289 C-Code two barrel. We have posted a video of the engine turning over so you can see it turns. We also checked the compression and it was great on all cylinders ranging between 140 and 145 on all cylinders. This car has power steering and standard drum brakes. It also has Air Conditioning but is missing the compressor. everything else seems to be there with the car. We pulled the drums and the pads are older and passable, but I would replace them. We have no idea about the transmission other than the original owner told us the mechanical condition of the car before they started the restoration was completely functional. Again, the most important thing with this car's drivetrain is that it is all original and there. Whether you decide to modify it or take it back to original, you are starting out with all the right things you would want in a collectible. .

Viva Las Vegas Autos Note from the Owner...

I am a “used car dealer” but before that, I’m an automobile enthusiast. I love original, rare and high quality modified vintage and modern cars. Over the past 18 years I’ve been in business, I have come to appreciate an expanding selection of high-demand, high value vehicles as well. I specialize in and I am always on the lookout for cars and trucks that were cherished by their previous owners.
I have an experienced eye for quality and I’ve discovered that my preferred buyers can instantly discern such a vehicle and I have therefore, built my business and reputation around finding these kinds of cars for this type of customer. Super low miles and/or gentle ownership are strict requirements but a car must do something for me on a personal level if there is any hope of convincing you, the buyer, that this is an above average, exceptional vehicle. If nothing about the car excites me, it probably won’t do much for you either and I would soon be out of business.

With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a “dealership” like mine may be at a first glance. It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list. To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner. First we do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and hope nothing escapes our methodical investigation. Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly “right” will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about Collector's Dream Cars. Moreover, it allows us to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless we think it is true. If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one. I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction so you don’t get a headache over the vehicle.

After the vehicle is fully checked over and made whole at any level it needs to be, we researches its history, documents, documenting originality and authenticity. Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications, and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty. Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 200 high resolution pictures that I take myself. The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I’ve developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they meticulously clean. Reconditioning can sometimes take several days as we do all that we can within reason to get our vehicles in tip top condition visually and cosmetically. We do Way more than just a cheap detail. Our details are more like refurbishing to as close to new as we can possibly get our vehicles.

Usually, I’ll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it’s a fast car, we film it going fast. If it’s a 4x4 you’ll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch gauges operation as well.

No “dealer,” on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information. I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase that my vehicle is for real and what I say is an honest assessment. All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact. I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay. To accomplish that I need satisfied customers that are as thrilled with their purchase as I was when I bought it.

If you have any questions at all, please call me on my cell at: 702-353-7500. If your inquiry is sincere and your offer is serious, you’ll find me the most accommodating business partner you’ve ever dealt with. If you call or e-mail asking for my reserve or “what is my bottom line” I will be looking for ways to politely end the conversation. Until you are ready to actually make an offer, I will happily quote you a liberal suggested retail price – a number we both know will not buy the car so, don’t waste your time, or mine. I am after all, a “used car dealer.”
