Description of 1986 Ford Mustang GT |
You're looking at an affordable, loaded, and well-presented icon. And yes, this 1986 Ford Mustang GT has everything you want, including T-tops, a five-speed, and a fuel-injected 5.0 V8 heart. Ford got the package exactly right in 1986. In an era when power was dwindling, the Mustang GT was one of the few beacons of speed. It created one of the largest aftermarket performance revolutions around, and as a result, it's extremely rare to find a such an original example like this. The Oxford White paint is the factory-correct color, and it show a nice gloss of a quality respray with a modern clearcoat on top. The bright factory alloys, badging, and integrated rear spoiler all have the right stock look. But you will notice one difference. While these GTs were born with a full black accenting package, this was switched to a matte gray later in life. It's an interesting take on the factory look with the coordinated headlight buckets, quarter window slats, and rub strip that hugs the entire body. Even the correct GT hood treatment was done in this upgrade. It makes the red accenting stand out nicely and gives this classic an individual spirit without straying too far from stock. Inside, the ultra-supportive buckets are a true hallmark for this generation Mustang GT. They have terrific bolstering, and the gray cloth inserts are repeated on the doors and rear seats for a very uniform appearance. It's the kind of well-kept look that will have you taking out the T-tops just so you can show it off. They really took good care of this coupe, and so all the right stock pieces remain in place, including the dual spoke steering wheel that gives you a clear view of the original speedo and tach. Even the retractable rear hatch privacy cover is still in place and working. A car this well cared for must be something special, and that's why it came loaded with power windows, power locks, tilt steering column, and cruise control. Plus, there are some worthwhile integrated upgrades, like the AM/FM/CD stereo for better driving music. And the air conditioning has been converted to modern R134a refrigerant (the controls will need servicing for this to work properly.) The 5.0-liter High Output V8 continued to evolve, and 1986 is a pivotal year for Mustang fans. This is when they would introduce fuel-injection. With its great sound, stout performance, and impressive torque, this injected V8 made it the pony car of choice for an entire generation. While there is a huge and affordable aftermarket for these motors, this one remains refreshingly stock. In fact, it's believed to be the original motor from this very important year. And this tidy presentation is more assurance of a well-respected life. The odometer is also believed to reflect actual mileage, which would have this averaging less than 2,400 miles annually. The five-speed manual transmission puts complete control of the V8 firmly in your hands. Plus, there's great anytime driving features like power steering, front disc brakes, and Cooper Cobra tires that make this the perfect vintage companion for traveling near or far. You can tell this is a truly special vehicle up for grabs. And at such an affordable price, you better call today or might regret it tomorrow. Call now! |
