Description of 1970 Ford Torino |
When a fastback 1970 Ford Torino is this affordable, you're already excited. So when it also has great features like a strong paint package, bucket seat interior, and V8 power, you realize just how much of a sweet deal this mean-looking classic really is. There was a brief time when the Torino was the most desirable hardtop around. Ford pulled out all the stops in 1970 with a terrific-looking coupe. The front end had a hint of overhang, and it looks particularly aggressive here when combined with the upgraded GT-style blackout hood decal. The rest of the paint is a quality respray of the factory-correct red. The glossy finish really seems like a great way to show off the long lines of this coupe. In fact, with upgraded details, like the bright dual exhaust tips and Hurst 15-inch wheels, this one really likes to own the road. Black vinyl is always looks good against a red exterior. While this is an intermediate car by 1970s standards, you can easily see there's room to comfortably fit nearly all your family and friends. Of course, the high-back bucket seats up front mean you are going to get individual space no matter how many people are coming along. And the long body lines also mean you have a huge trunk to carry just about everything you can imagine. This has a highly original-style presentation. It's especially noticeable from the driver's seat where you get everything from the correct dual-spoke steering wheel to the working Philco AM radio. So you can really see the appeal here for those who like their classics to still have a classic presentation. Under the hood is Ford's famous 302 cubic-inch V8. This F-code coupe was born with this displacement, and the motor certainly has a factory-style look today. There has been the right maintenance here, including newer wires. So while we love the 302 for its almost limitless potential for upgrades, it's nice to have a strong-running package already in place. There are even rather straight pipes on an updated dual exhaust to give you a solid V8 tune. Out on the road, this has the right cruising features, like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and wide BF Goodrich T/As. Ford sold far less Torino fastbacks than Chevrolet sold Chevelle coupes in 1970. Today that means this great value coupe is not only a good-looking muscle machine, but also it's rarer, too. So this is the classic that's perfect for rocking right now, and taking your time to maximize its potential in the future. A coupe with this much to offer is going to leave us quickly.
