Description of 1966 Ford Fairlane |
Up for sale from the Mustang Ranch in Golden Colorado This 1966 Ford Fairlane Race car vin number #6A31T247939 runs mid 10's in the quarter mile! Part of a clients private collection that I am asked to sell. This piece of American race history has only a little over 6. 00 miles on her. This car has some 1967 parts on it. I was told it came that way. There is no collision and just a little rust bubbling on the lower part of the passengers door. There is no guarantee or warranty so please call and ask as many questions as you like. Best regards. One of 6 prototypes (only 3 remain)ordered by the Ford Motor Company for their racing program and built by Holman/Moody racing contractor for Ford. This car was raced from 1966 to 1970 by a Ford dealer in Alabama. Car was ordered by Ford through its DSO 84 program which meant the car was built for special use. (Similar to Chevy's COPO program)If you refer to the door tag you will notice the car came through with a 'T' code 6 cylinder engine. code 'E' 3. 50 Detroit Locker rear end and code '5' heavy duty top loader 4 speed transmission. H-M then pulled the 6 cylinder engine and replaced it with a 427 tunnel port engine that originally had 14 to 1 compression which has been currently lowered to 11 to 1 to run on high octane racing fuel. H-M built this engine using Ford Le mans connecting rods (replaced with Eagle forged H-beam rods). Special Ford pistons known as Pike's Peak now replaced during rebuild with Speed Pro flat top pistons. Ford supplied a custom high lift racing cam (specs unknown) which has been replaced with a Lunati 593/598 lift with 248 @. 50 lift. This H-M 427 engine was completely put back to today's racing specs. |
