1968 Ford Mustang Notchback race car (no reserve)This is an X-NASA and HSR race car that apparently ran the NASA National championships and the HSR Mitty events a decade ago. I do not know any more about its competition history. The car came from the factory with a 302 V8 and now comes with an early 302 2-barrel engine core that would be appropriate for vintage racing, once rebuilt. This is essentially a roller. It has an 8.8” Ford rear end, with no Limited Slip, rear shocks and springs, most of a driveshaft loop and frame bracing. One rear brake drum is present. Up front, it appears to have race springs, but no front anti-roll bar and no shocks and no strut rods. Assume, you will have to go back through the chassis with proper race prep. There is no transmission or driveshaft with the car, but it was set up for manual transmission and the three-pedal cluster is included. While there is no visible rust through, some of the floor pans were replaced with seemingly authentic reproduction panels. Inside, the car is wired with safety on/off switch, has a proper battery box, switch panel, gauges and full safety equipment, all about ten years old. An ATL fuel cell seems properly installed and is plumbed. The car is located in Daytona Beach Florida, rolls and steers (somewhat) and has a clear Florida title. This is a great low-buck starting point for a race car. The cage installation appears well done and obviously met sanctioning body requirements. The paint job is plenty good enough for a race car but would not win any concours events. It is a nice dark green with black hood and looks very much like a Trans Am car from the late sixties. There is a minor parking lot ding up front but doesn’t seem to have injured anything other than the front trim, valence and radiator support. These are very inexpensive parts at NPD. While you could return this car to stock, the doors are gutted out and it would make a way better race, rally or Autocross project car.It comes with the fourth Ranger pick-up wheel, a brand new car cover, an extra set of pistons and rods and the front valence panel modified for brake cooling.I bought it to build an HSR Group 3 Limited prep race car, but then found a 65 Mustang Fastback that I like even better, to start my project with.No Reserve. Clear Florida title in my name. Will assist your shipper or with loading. Can sit here outside for 30-60 days with full payment.
