Description of 1986 Ford Escort LX |
This little Escort was a daily driver until 7 months ago when it was parked after the owner twisted his back. It has always been a California car. Body is rust free. Car was always reliable until it was put out of service. It still has the original paint. and to the best of my knowledge it has never been wrecked. It was just brought to Kentucky a couple weeks ago. I have to much going on with my Mustangs to have any time to work on this one. The a/c needs recharging. It has a new 1160 cold cranking amp battery. It has new lifting shocks for the rear hatch. The A/C needs O rings and a recharge. I put in new Glow Plugs and a new Fuel Filter yesterday morning. and I was able to get the car to fire after some cranking. It ran about fifteen minutes with no issues other than a small drip drip drip of coolant that appeared to be coming from a lower radiator hose. I then drove the car a couple miles up the road and back. It had plenty of power. and the transmission shifted fantastic. When I got back to the house I shut the car off. and proceeded to jump in the shower. Afterwards I got back in the car and it wouldn't fire back up immediately. As it turns over it keeps ALMOST starting. but it appears to be losing it's prime at the fuel filter housing. When the motor is running it sounds fantastic. but getting it running is taking more effort than is normal. I did notice that the injector pump has been turned up. so much likely the previous owner has it turned up a little too much causing it to be hard to start. I would say the car needs to be towed until the fuel problem can be straightened out once the new owner gets it home. This little car has a ton of potential. I currently have two Diesel wagons that I drive 140 miles daily for work. I average 51mpg with them. These cars are incredibly reliable when you get the bugs worked out. I would love to keep this car. but I just have too many toys. This will make someone a great little commuter. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. |
