Description of 1953 Ford Other |
This is my 1953 Ford Crestline Victoria 50th Anniversary 2dr Hardtop. It is a great example of an original. low mileage. well cared for Ford which is also the last year of production for the well proven and reliable flat head engine. This is the early Ford style that I cut my teeth on as a kid…. great memories! A short history of this car: It is a Southern car which. over the course if its lifetime. was in dry storage for over 20 years. The actual mileage is just under 47K and it looks it. The engine has been modified to be a “high performance” version of the original with internal modifications. two duces”. dual exhaust and Offenhauser heads. The oil pressure is well over 60# at an idle and its performance shows the modifications validity. It starts and runs super well! The three speed Overdrive transmission was just overhauled by the “Master”. John. at Roxbury Gear Box. Roxbury VT and carries a 2 year warranty from the builder. All O/D electronics were replaced at the time of installation. The clutch. pressure plate. T/O and pilot bearings. are new and the flywheel was resurfaced and balanced as part of the work. New universal joints New brakes New rear shocks New oversized 6Volt battery New starter motor Completely rebuilt steering box ($300 just in parts) Suspension is very tight and the front wheels were just aligned The tires are excellent (see my recommendations below) Recommendations: The tires are 14” (belted) and I would replace them with the original 15” size and vintage looking radial tires. I have 5 correct 15” wheels and wheel covers that will go with the car. There are a couple of minor rust spots starting to show that will need attention eventually. The front shocks will need replacement soon (rears are new) The “temp” gauge reads incorrectly although the engine temp is always right around 180 degrees as it should be The wipers are vacuum operated and are slow. It might just be a porous vacuum line from the engine to the wiper motor or the motor itself. Rebuilt wiper motors are available for under $100 The heater hoses were never reinstalled after the engine work was done…. don’t know why. Everything seems to be in place for the heater and the blower motor works. My plans were to grow old with this specimen of my past but. due to a few “miscalculations and a better than expected 2014” I will owe the IRS some extra tax dollars by tax time so the sale of my beloved ’53 Ford will be used for that purpose. Check out the high resolution pictures and call or email me if you have any questions. It is an honest. original and historic example of a really fun car that can be driven anywhere. The Ford is in south western New Hampshire and is available to be seen and test driven almost anytime. six zero three 762 six one one one. Of course the original warranty ran out years ago so. this car will be sold on an as-is basis with all faults. The car is 62 years old so I would suggest that you review the photos and contact me with your queries before bidding. This is not a car that has had a million owners or a car that has been “restored” by someone in their garage over the winter. Its originality and the fact that it is all 1953 Ford have real value. I will be happy to store the car for a short while and/or assist with the shipping arrangements. I do require the winning bidder to make a $500 nonrefundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of auction end then payment in full via cash. certified bank check or wire transfer within 7 days of auction end. Many thanks for your interest in my Ford. |
