Description of 1938 Ford 85 Coupe 2 Door Coupe |
Vehicle Details 1938 Ford 85 Coupe 2 Door Coupe This is a beautiful Original Classic with 25,419 actual miles with original documentation. The car was originally purchased in Knoxville, Tennessee. The original owner, A.N. Bishop purchased the car July 30, 1938. He paid $729.10 and traded in a 1934 Sedan and was allowed $275.00 leaving a balance of $454.10. He paid $214.10 and financed $240.00 for six monthly payments of $40.00 with no interest. When he passed away, his widow, Ruth, donated the car to the Boys Club of Knoxville to raffle as a fund raiser. Before donating the car she drove the car for 20 years putting less than 25,000 miles on it. The car was purchased by a Private Collector who cared for it for many years and loved the car's original condition. I purchased the car to add to my collection and was the next care giver for this beautiful survivor for many years. I am retiring and downsizing and it's time for the next caregiver to take over. The car is laser straight, the original paint is not perfect in some areas but, overall, the paint has held up well for an 84-year-old car that has spent its life indoors. The car starts right up and drives good but, the 1938 type brakes require caution (they are in good condition but, not very effective compared to today's standards. The interior is in great condition as it has been covered in a clear vinyl/plastic. The Ford has the old reliable flat head V8 with 3 speed on the floor transmission. Included documentation: Original sales invoice, original owners manual for the 85 horsepower V8 engine, original Ford Reference Book, the winning raffle ticket, letter from the private collector detailing the heartwarming history of this 1938 beautiful survivor. Please feel free to ask any and all questions. Thank you for your consideration. |
