Description of 1970 Ford F-250 4wd High Boy |
1970 Ford F250. 4x4 Highboy. 360 V8 engine. 4 speed manual transmission. The truck is being relisted because the winner of the previous auction backed out after he won the auction. He did not call me and ask any questions about the truck until AFTER he won the auction. His excuse for backing out was that my ad was misleading and fraudulent so I’m being very careful how I word the ad this time. I used the words excellent condition and restored which I believe is the correct way to describe the truck. But the word excellent is a matter of opinion and can differ from person to person. So please call me and ask questions that you have about the truck BEFORE you place your bid. The truck has had a body swap from a 1968 Ford F250 and put on this 1970 Ford F250 4x4 Highboy frame. The body has been repainted the original factory color of the1968 body. The California Department of motor vehicles issued a new Vin Tag that matches the new California title so it has a 100% legal and correct Vin number. Not 2 different Vin numbers on the body and frame like many body swap vehicles have. The California department of motor vehicles went by the Vin number on the frame when they issued the new Vin tag on the driver’s side door. A California Highway patrol officer removed the old Vin tag from the driver’s side door and attached the new Vin tag to the driver’s side door. You can see the new legal and correct Vin tag in one of the photos. Several other things have been done to the truck to make sure that the truck runs and drives good as a daily driver. The truck does not have power steering so keep that in mind. It’s a 1970 Ford F250 4x4 Highboy. It’s not a luxury vehicle. I personally consider the truck to be in excellent condition but that is a matter of opinion and it is definitely not an auto show winner quality truck. There is surface rust on the frame. The frame has not been repainted because I did not want to hide the condition of the frame. Even though a lot of work has been done to the truck you must keep in mind that the truck is over 50 years old and there was not a $100,000 restoration job done to it. The winner of the previous auction who backed out was obviously either expecting a $100,000 show truck for under $30,000 or he got cold feet and was looking for an excuse to back out after he won the auction. He claims that he has several restored vehicles. If that’s true he has obviously never restored one himself and does not realize that to restore a truck to the condition that he wants would cost about $100,000 to do that kind of restoration job. If you are expecting the same thing as he is this is not the truck for you. There are too many details about the truck to list all of them in the ad so please call and ask any questions that you need to be totally informed about the truck because I don’t want the next buyer to back out or receive the truck and not be 100% satisfied with the purchase. I have a reserve of $25,000. I have no problem telling you the reserve because the only reason that I have a reserve is to protect myself from being forced to sell the truck for less than $25,000 if the highest bid falls short of that. If the highest bid falls short of $25,000 I will just keep the truck for one of my personal trucks. I also reserve the right to end the auction early if somebody negotiates an acceptable price and does not want to wait until the end of the auction to buy the truck. I had a few guys ask me to end the previous auction early and sell the truck to them because they did not want to hassle with the auction. I felt that ending the auction early would be unethical but trying to do the right thing and letting the auction run to the very end of the auction ended up biting me in the butt. So I learned my lesson and I will not let that happen again if somebody wants to buy the truck early. Please call and ask any questions that you have BEFORE you bid or make an early offer. I have become a little paranoid now about selling a truck like this because of the way things ended up with the highest bidder on the previous auction. I have sold many vintage trucks over the past 15 years and I have never had an unsatisfied customer until I dealt with the winner of the previous auction. So I’m doing everything that I can possibly do to try to prevent that from ever happening again. So please call me before you bid or make an early offer. Tee Vallas (619) 606-7206 |
