Description of 1969 Ford Other |
1969 Ford Econoline E100 window van converted in 1980 to a 1979 Isuzu 4BD1A naturally aspirated diesel crate motor. 24,020 on its new odometer (no idea of accuracy). This is the same motor that Australian Land Rover Defenders were equipped with at this time for reliability and fuel economy. Motor is coupled to a NewProcess 434 4 speed from an F100 bolted to a stock E100 bell housing clutch assembly. Transfer case stock from an F100 4x4 with a simple pull or push 4x4 engagement action. Rear cross member modified from a stock E100. F100 axles front and rear. There is a propane gas system for hea, cooking and a light. Gas is plumbed through the body with an interior access to the tank. The bed folds up and allows full loading access. 2 swivel bucket seats with seat belts up front, all square windows have been modified to open and lock. All doors lock and operate freely. There are no dents but for a slight indentation along the right rear corner at the bumper. Both Inside and out there is some rust. The body has been modified to accomodate the 4x4 set-up which wasn't offered until a few years later by subcontracting companies, namely Pathfinder Quadravan. I possess the original build sheet, the original owner was an engineer and way ahead of the times. There is a tow bar and spare tire mount on the front bumper. There is a secondary fuel tank. Van runs, starts and stops. All gears work, clutch is good, this drives like a tractor and doesn't need 12volt power once started. Tires are shot, power steering leaks and the thing is rough. I drove it all last year in Mt. Shasta through the snow. I did supplies and dump runs. Heater works, 4x4 drivetrain works, needs work here and there. This is a unicorn and I hate to sell but need the space and my wife does not understand. I drove a 79 CJ7 with this same exact drivetrain. I got over 40 mpg and was never left stranded. The builder was a master. Notice the doghouse (interior engine cowling) A stick shift housing was integrated onto it. The seats are in poor condition but were spaced and placed just right. The motor is tight . The fluids have always been maintained. This vehicle will need to be towed. This vehicle needs work. I strongly insist you contact me with questions and come view please. If my reserve isn't met or if I get a flakey buyer then I will re-list within 10 days, so as a seller watch for me. If I wasn't older than this van I would keep and make my own... over time. But time I have not. Please review my 17yr 100% Ebay history. I look forward to your queries.
