1973 Ford F250 Custom in Exceptional Condition If you are looking for a classic Ford truck that is ready to enjoy then let me introduce you to the Mint. This 1973 F250 Custom is a Southern California native born on Sept. 15 1973 and was sold at the Corral Ford in San Diego on Feb 27 of 1974. While many of these trucks were put to work, it’s clear that this one, was a gentleman’s truck and didn’t see many hard days of work. The body panels and floors are in unbelievable condition for a 50-year-old truck. The winter green is the original paint and still holds a luminous shine. The topside seapin green was resprayed sometime in the past and is in excellent shape. This truck also has the less common thin molding which goes really well with the two tone. Currently holds a clean California Title. I found this truck tucked away in a garage where it sat for about 12-15 years. The previous owner had just rebuilt the motor and trans before tucking it away. I went through all of its systems to make it look, run and drive as good as it did in ‘73. The is the result.Engine The original 360 block was retained but internals were swapped to make the 360 a 390. The original intake was swapped to a 4-barrel aluminum Edlebrock under previous ownership. The engine has approximately 1300 miles since rebuild. We did a cooling system flush as well as an oil change. The transmission is a C6 and the cork pan gasket was leaking when we got the truck. We took the opportunity to replace the trans filter and install a new Moroso pan gasket. There is a new vacuum modulator and new soft lines. The tailshaft bushing and seal were also replaced. The engine bay is nicely detailed. Fuel System Because it sat for so long the fuel had gone bad so we replaced both fuel tanks, installed new filler neck hoses as well as all of the fuel lines. Both tanks got new sending units and gaskets. The selector valve was rebuilt. A new fuel pump and rebuilt Holley carburetor finished off fuel delivery.
Electrical The electrical system was completely gone through to make sure all of the components work correctly. The ignition was upgraded to a Pertronix with a new matching coil, new plugs, cap rotor, and wires. All lights, gauges and indicators work as they should. The charging system was verified and a new battery and hold downs were installed. It has a new Sony radio with Bluetooth and Kenwood speakers.
Brakes The truck has an all new braking system. Starting with a new master cylinder, front calipers, rotors, bearings and pads. The rear drums have new cylinders, hardware, shoes and seals. The brakes work as they should and have a nice firm confident feel. The parking brake works as intended.
Wheels & Chassis The rear axle was serviced with new wheel bearings seals and gear oil. We installed a new KYB gas-a-just shocks all around. The rear sway bar bushings were also replaced. The original Ford wheels are freshly powder coated. The truck rides exceptionally well with a very smooth ride.
Underbody We gave as much attention to the underbody as we did the topside. The undercarriage was complete cleaned degreased and primed then painted in an epoxy chassis black for many more years of protection. It shows very well. Interior The interior features a re-covered seat that was done by the previous owner. We pulled the seats and cleaned the many years of dust and dirt from the under dash and below the plastic mat. We opted for a heavy black carpet with backing for a more comfortable interior. The black and tan complement the Sepine green dash very well. The dash pad was replaced and the interior painted surfaces washed and waxed. A new original style glovebox liner was installed. A custom vinyl wrapped ABS headliner was installed to have an original look with additional durability. The instrument cluster was cleaned and has a new lens. The dash bezel and horn pad are also new. The door panels are original and in excellent shape. I’m not sure it looked any better in the 70’s.
Exterior The exterior has just gone through a full detail. All the bright work has been polished. The paint received three stage 3m polish. The paint looks great and shines bright. There are a few small dents and areas of thinning paint that are consistent with a 50-year-old truck. Sale DetailsI built this truck to keep, no corners were cut. A new piece of rusty metal has caught my attention and this one, sadly, is going to get a new owner. I encourage you to come and take a look at it. I know you will be pleased. It is also for sale locally so the auction may end early. I am happy to listen to any reasonable offers but please be cognizant of both of our times. I can assist with transport companies should that be required, or if you would like, you can fly in and drive home. Payments must clear before transport or pickup.
