Description of 1965 Ford Mustang |
1965 mustang fastback 2+2 C-code V8 No Reserve Auction ! Clean tile in my name. Up for auction as a really nice 1965 mustang fastback. Too many projects so this one is up for grabs. I purchased this Fastback with a lot of the work already started. I want to be transparent when I say, this is a great looking car with a lot of potential, but it is still a project. There is still a lot to do, but most importantly, it is a 289 Fastback!I listed below the new parts that have been placed on the vehicle as well as the good and the bad that I am aware of.This is originally an Ivy green on trim, 76 cloth and vinyl black interior.Color verified under dash pad (see pic). From what I can tell this interior option for the front bucket seats was pretty rare. The car currently has two vinyl seats, due to the original seats not have a great frame rails. Good news is I still have the original cloth insert seats and they will be included with the sale so they can stay with this car.I attached some pictures of the two seats. This fastback is out of the Dearborn Michigan plant.Came factory with a 289-2V V8 and a C4 automatic transmission.According to the data plate, the vehicle was a DSO 89 destination (transportation services).I’ve done a little research on the meaning behind that, but basically this car would have been an executive or promotional car (see info below).Still pretty cool. The vehicle does currently have an in-line 6, but this is a C code V8 car (see VIN pictures). The story I got is the original V-8 went bad, and the previous owner placed a near period correct in line 6 with plans to give this car to his teenager. The current motor will turn over and idle on a can of gas. Currently, there is no exhaust ran and the fuellines are disconnected.I chose not to do anything with the motor, as I simply was planning to remove it, and replace it with a V8.The car also has no brakes at the moment. When I hook up a battery, the wiring seems to work really well.It is original to the car. The radio still turns on and plays too.I was told the vehicle was hit in the rear in the past, and when it was repaired the driver side rear frame rail was not replaced.I would personally replace the quarters, inner wheel wells and frame rails. The driver side door and rear quarter panels do have some Bondo. The passenger side door is solid. Both rocker panels are also solid. The driver inner outer rocker was replaced and is welded up.I can see that the floor panels have been replaced all the way back to the rear seat area near the torque boxes. I cannot tell if these are finish welded.I don’t want to pull up the new carpet, but I can get in and out of the car very easily and the floors seem sturdy. Some additional great features of the car is the windows roll up and down perfect, all the glass is original and complete. The fold down rear seat functions. Perfect and looks great. It’s really a bit of a time capsule inside.Lots of extra parts in the trunk included (see pics). As mentioned, I am also including the original front seats and I will also include a new drivers door.I know this is a lot of information, but I please ask any questions if needed and I’ll try to answer them.Happy bidding! DSO 89 information: DSO 89 is in a vehicle that was built and kept by Ford for its use until no longer needed and sold off to the general public. Most of these vehicles were used as perks for executives, management and other "important people". They would keep them for months to maybe a year or two until newer models replaced them as they were mixed into the fleet. Others were used for promotional work and advertising (interior options, etc.) Basically this car would have been an executive or promotional car. |
