I have been working on this car as a hobby for the past ten years. In addition to simply enjoying working on it, I had a vague idea that I might enter this car in the "Street Rod" Rookie Class at Big Bend Open Road Race (BORR). But the multi-year lockdowns and schedule disruptions brought by COVID completely derailed that plan. And now I'm ready to move on to other projects. This car has clocked very low (a few hundred; new odometer shows about 880) miles and no abuse since its return to the road. Its driving history for the past few years is short trips around town and puttering through the neighborhood. Clear Texas title in hand, in my name. Current Texas registration and safety inspection. This T-Code Mustang Coupe was disassembled to a bare body and mounted on a rotisserie for chassis prep. Rusted portions of floors, lower quarterpanel, and the entire cowl were replaced with reproduction parts. Convertible style torque boxes, inner rockers and seat base were installed. Various rusted areas (lower doors, lower fenders, inner fender, etc.) were repaired. The seat base was moved aft slightly for more front legroom. The rear seat was deleted. An Optima "red top" AGM battery, functional rear brake-cooling ducts, and Marshal Lifeline fire suppression system were installed in an upholstered compartment that replaces the rear seat. The rear side windows no longer crank down, due to the routing of the brake cooling ductwork. Hood and trunk lid are good-quality reproductions that were on the car when I acquired it. A rectangular aluminum fuel tank with roll-over vent replaces the original tank and fill. A sheet aluminum partition is installed between the trunk and passenger compartment. The electric fuel pump is powered through an oil pressure safety switch. Paint is black single-stage polyurethane over epoxy primer. The paint is a few years old; it has minor scratches, scuffs and various surface imperfections.
Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) with disc brakes was adapted from a late 1990's Mustang Cobra. Polyurethane bushings and Eibach springs on QA1 coilover shocks were installed in the IRS. Rectangular steel subframe connectors tie the modular IRS to the front subframe. Front suspension modifications include the Arning ("Shelby Drop") upper control arm relocation, stiffer / lowered coil springs with KYB Excel-G shocks, large-diameter sway bar, Heim Joint Strut Rods, Heavy Duty Crossmember, and front disc brakes. Power steering is by Borgeson box; hydraulic power is shared with the HydroBoost braking system. The engine was assembled from a fresh, professionally built 5.0 roller-cam short block to which aluminum heads, roller rocker arms, stainless steel headers, ribbed aluminum oil pan, Jegs aluminum intake with Holley 4 barrel manual-choke carb, electronic ignition with Pertronix FlameThrower coil, high-torque starter, and aluminum valve covers were added. The engine bay features export brace and Monte Carlo bar, aluminum radiator with dual electric cooling fans, and 4 spray nozzles connected to the fire suppression system. Transmission is a Tremec T5 five-speed manual with cable-operated clutch. A new friction disc, pressure plate and throwout bearing were installed during vehicle assembly. Brakes are 4-piston Kelsey Hayes disc on the front and Mustang Cobra disc on the rear, powered by a HydroBoost system through a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve. The parking brake is operated by a floor-mounted lever between the seats. The 17- inch Mustang GT alloy wheels are fitted with Khumo 245/45R/17 tires.
The interior features black molded carpeting and Corbeau seats with adjustment sliders and Racequip 5-point harnesses. Instruments are AutoMeter UltraLite in an aftermarket gauge cluster that accomodates the large diameter tach and electronic analog speedometer. An additional direct-read "mechanical" engine temperature gauge is mounted near the shifter boot. The aftermarket R-134A under-dash air conditioner was recently serviced by a local shop. A molded black plastic headliner gives additional headroom. Four interior spray nozzles are connected to the LifeLine fire suppression system. Window glass has mild surface imperfections but is in generally good condition. Both side windows need slight travel adjustment; they crank up and down easily but do not quite close all the way to the top (see photos). A Kenwood AM-FM Bluetooth stereo is mounted in the dash, with speakers in the kick panels and behind the front seats. An oversize rear-view mirror is installed, with built-in dashcam and backup camera.

On Oct-19-23 at 05:22:01 PDT, seller added the following information: The vehicle starts, runs, steers, shifts, and stops well. It's great fun to drive and it has that cool muscle car idle thanks to the "performance" cam the engine builder used. The rebuilt short block was purchased in September 2019 - this engine has maybe 700 miles since its installation.
