Description of 1960 Ford Falcon

I found this car in non-running, neglected condition at an estate sale. Following is work I did to bring it back to life:

Brakes: Upgraded brake master cylinder to a later model dual master cylinder. New brake shoes, wheel cylinders and hub seals all around (the drums were good). New brake light switch. New hand brake cable. The car stops!

New rear shocks.

Exhaust: New tail pipe and muffler. It’s quiet!

Electrical: Got all of the lights working with an after market turn signal switch.

Tires: Four new Falken tires with less than 1,000 miles in them.

The fuel gauge transmitter is new in the box in the trunk but not installed. The gauge is good. The transmitter needs installation.

Paint: The car had been re-painted some time ago (from red to white) and has a few paint dings and chips but is still in pretty good shape. I had the car professionally detailed and the paint came back to life.

Interior: New slip covers front and rear and a parcel apron on the back of the front seat. New floor carpet over the entire floor and floor mats front and rear. (The floor had rusted out and I replaced it with new metal.) Carpet pad over dash. New wiper blades. Three sets of keys.

Engine and transmission: New carburetor, spark plugs, plug wires. fan belt, thermostat, after market temp gauge, oil and filter change on engine and transmission, new ignition switch and fuel pump. The engine starts easily and runs good. The two speed transmission shifts smoothly. The car runs and drives good and I’ve been driving it daily lately.

Current California clear title with 2025 registration in my name. Buyer responsible for transportation costs.

It’s important to remember that when this car was designed and built in 1960 it was a minimalist car to satisfy the public’s desire for a cheaper-to-operate car (along with the Plymouth Valiant and the Chevy Corvair). The Falcon was primitive when new in 1960 and even more so by today’s 2025 standards of cars. (It’s 65 years old!) The car is a kick to drive and gets a lot of thumbs up and smiles around town. If you have questions, just ask.
